Additionally, it is legitimately true that the area can be unsafe (although I suppose this is true of any area of a city). Let me describe this via a story. I have a friend that lived in the 19th Ward for 3 months, and moved out due to safety concerns. During these three months, he was robbed twice. While a police officer was there responding to the call, the officer told him that he should, "buy a gun if he's going to live here, and not just a pistol, but something with some real stopping power."
