2008-06-17 10:18:56   I love their falafel. Ive always enjoyed my meal there, been many times, food quality is good. Interior is clean and simple, but the bathrooms are weird and need a remodel, just an FYI.
Sometimes they have Eastman School students playing jazz, nice touch. —MrRochester

2008-06-21 09:08:39   Was here last night (6/20). I've never had good service here but I decided to give it one last shot. And what an experience it was. I'm never going back. Granted it was a big night for the Jazz Fest and they were packed, but absolutely nothing was going right in that restaurant. We were there for just over an hour and saw at least half a dozen couples and groups walk out because their food never came or they were completely neglected by their wait staff. They had quite a few waiters on, but they were all running around like chickens with their heads cut off, getting very little done. It was absolute chaos. I felt bad for the people who were trying to get to the Jazz Fest concerts on time. A lot of patrons were getting teed off and quite a few people were having words with the wait staff and one of the owners. Our waitress was nice enough to bring us a salad during our nearly hour-long wait for our dinners. We asked one of the waitresses what was going on and she said they'd had a bunch of no-shows, both for floor staff and kitchen staff. I found this claim a bit odd since their were something like 5-8 waiters on the floor (but again, none of them seemed to be doing anything but running around - not actually getting anything done). Once the food finally came, I barely even wanted it any more. The food was okay, not terrible, but certainly not worth the wait. I've never seen a more incompetently-run restaurant. I wouldn't be surprised if they close before too long, especially after last night's patrons start chatting with their friends and co-workers. The restaurant has a great location, so maybe it will eventually turn into something worth-while...But definitely not in the current owners hands! —JuliaDickinson

2008-06-25 14:42:34   I was at this restaurant probably six months ago on a Friday night and it was just me and my girlfriend and two other party were at the whole restaurant. There was a guy, chef-manager-or the owner at the bar, lights turned off. Place where we sat, the walls were filty! I heard from my friends before about the attitude of the staff here, it turned out to be true. I mean she wasn't nasty to us, but certainly NOT friendly at all. At least say "hi how are you and thank you". I work near the area and i see this place empty constantly. This restaurant is in the prime location of Rochester, and i want to know how the owner manages to stay in business? What is the secret? How do you make money when on a busy night your restaurant is empty? I am not being sarcastic, i would like to know because one day i have ambitions of opening a restaurant. —DennisPtak

2008-08-31 19:29:18   Service is definitely hit or miss. I love the food enough to keep returning, but I will not go on RPO nights or prime time on a weekend night. I have found that when the place is quiet, I have a lovely meal. I am addicted to the Spicy Shrimp pizza and Chicken Alexandria. There's a lovely patio. Give it another try, but be sure to go when it's NOT busy. —RochGirl

2008-10-04 16:42:06   I agree that the service is hit or miss, and the place is always empty for dinner, so the atmosphere is pretty dry. However, the food has been really good every time I have gone. —JaredStrohl

2008-12-02 13:58:26   I went here the other night after a performance of the Nutcracker. The food was good, but nothing special. I like Sinbad's and Aladdin's food better. The place was DEAD. Seriously, we were the only people there. The service was okay- our waitress wasn't particularly friendly, but the food came out very fast (maybe just because it was so empty). The hummus was very interesting-unlike any hummus I've ever had before. I'd be willing to go back and try some other dishes. —mooster42000

2008-12-22 23:53:41   if you like delicious grilled animal, come to alexandria and get the amazing meat plate.. .with lamb, beef chicken and kabob on a greek pita with tahini for under $15. The shaorma and hummus is excellent and if you are looking for an amazing appetizer, slurp up some shrimp gambori.. or something. —wahili69

2009-05-31 12:32:15   We've eaten here 3 or 4 times so far. Of those times, only once did we have poor service. It was a busy night & they only had one server on for some reason. Other than that, the food has always be very good & the service is usually decent. Last night we went & it was very busy as there was an event at the Eastman, bu our service was still adequate. We like to see it busy. Sometimes we go & there's hardly anyone else there. —EileenMonaghan

2009-06-07 20:38:36   I eat at Alexandria's every couple weeks, and I've never had bad service. The food is always great, and the atmosphere has always been enjoyable, even on the busy nights. I usually get the Pharoah falafel pita. They have excellent hummus as well. —BobbyJones

2009-06-08 21:36:45   I went to Alexandria with a large [rather rowdy] party last Saturday after my graduation. Our waiter, Scott, was [quite fortunately] very patient and efficient. The other guy that was working seemed nice, also. They sat us in a private room/alcove behind the bar which had a very home-y atmosphere. The food was absolutely excellent, and the coffee was good as well, a plus for me =] The prices were very reasonable and the menu had a great variety. The next time I'm in Rochester I'll definitely go back here. It's a shame that there are so many bad reviews, this really is a great place. —JulieAndersen

2009-07-19 18:55:47   I love this place. As a vegetarian there is an abundance of choice and everything is fresh and tasty. Love the falafel pizza! The atmosphere is quite pleasant and elegant. It's a great addition to the East End. —ldbasho
