The base page should describe the group, its purpose, hours, etc and point the viewer to a website or to an external forum or group for the special interest discussion and information sharing. A free website is possible under Google Sites or other free providers. Typically, such groups are best implemented using Google Groups or Yahoo Groups, which provide a spectrum of services, including email and discussion management, membership controls, posting controls, and other services such as Yahoo Calendar. The RocWiki Google Group is an example. —BradMandell
