Talk Pages, In General

The "Talk" feature allows users to move discussions about a page off the main page. It provides a forum for discussion of page content that is conceptually separate from the page itself, giving users an area in which to work out conflicts, ask questions, or generally talk with other users who have similar interest in the page subject. Some possible reasons for creating a "Talk" page:

All of these and more are valid reasons to create a talk page! It's a part of what builds the wiki community, and what helps keep the information on this site relevant, correct, and up-to-date.

2008-11-05 10:12:38   Pending further review by the Google group and based on information provided privately to the members of the AdminGroup (we are seeking approval to share it with the rest of the group), the comment by Stefan on October 21, 2008 has been temporarily redacted. You may review it in revision 22 of the parent page. —DaveMahon

2008-11-05 16:07:56   I agree with the redaction. It seems to be spam and unrelated to rocwiki. PeteB

2008-11-06 14:37:47   I disagree with the redaction. It was feedback on the behavior of this business. We've also seen behavior on this site by the owner of this business that was consistent with the suspect behavior that was described. —RichChiavaroli

2008-11-10 17:10:44   It depends whether RocWiki supports business page entries that are clearly not above board and suspect. I would like to direct you to the following link, in particular the comment made at the bottom (a comment that was recently made in the past hour) by someone reporting even more fraudulent behavior by "AwareBear" and its owner. The comment implies that the main goal of this company is getting free advertising by any and all means, including the faking of people's choice awards.

2008-11-11 09:25:54   I sort of disagree with the redaction. AwareBear definitely did steal the image. I happen to have one of the brochures they put it on. Because of that and when AwareBear themselves spammed the wiki, I would not use their services. —BadFish

2008-11-11 18:41:58   As has been posted on the Google group by Stefan, the matter of the validity of his accusation is pending legal resolution. I don't have details. Nor do I want them. When they come to a legal resolution, we will certainly act in accordance with that resolution. So far though, all I've heard are accusations back and forth and "You can call my lawyer," which I am quite confident will not happen, unless I/we am/are legally compelled to do so.

Accusations of violation of intellectual property rights is a serious legal matter. Lacking the knowledge and authority to determine the validity of the claim, however, we have tried to balance the desire for trustworthy comments with the simultaneous desire for maximum freedom of expression. Thus, the talk page provides explicit instructions for looking up the comment in question.

AwareBear's historical behavior does not strike me as relevant to this specific dispute and I would caution against allowing your personal opinion to bias you when looking at the objective reality of this specific matter and coming to a suggested course of action. Inappropriate edits are, after all, common among businesses when they first post to this site.

My personal opinion is that I am disappointed with the way that both parties have chosen to wage their disagreement on this site and on our Google group. It is, in my opinion, unprofessional and I would certainly hesitate to endorse or support either service provider at this time.

I wish all parties involved a prompt and amicable resolution of this matter. —DaveMahon

2008-11-11 18:45:19   This was posted by myself to the Google Group list earlier...

People are using RocWiki and the Google group to argue positions in a civil case that does not belong in either arena. I have no information on who may have done what nor do I honestly care. As David said it is not our position to ajudicate this matter.

We are happy to comply with any legal requests, however if *EITHER* Stefan Didak or Mr. Alves continue any further attempt to discuss this on EITHER RocWiki or the Google Group, **BOTH** of you (not just one or the other but BOTH) will be banned from both avenues of access. Any friends, compatriots, employees or people posting similar info will also be banned if need be. This in effect immediately.

You will have access back once we see paperwork stating the matter has be resolved in the proper manner it should be. —PeteB

2009-02-20 15:13:01   This company has a history of blatant shilling on just about every local review site I've seen. They have managed to get a number of unfavorable reviews removed from Yahoo Local and each one has been replaced with a blatantly fake one. Its ridiculous. They are so incredibly dishonest that someone started a site all about them. [WWW]http://www.andreleitealves.net/awarebear/

2010-12-29 20:14:47   AWARE BEAR COMPUTERS saved my business! and I highly recommend them. So my distribution business experienced serious tech problems during the holiday break. We're talking serious - all executives were unable to access their MS Outlook accounts, Finance team was unable to access their database and backlog was becoming an issue. I contacted them via mobile, they came onsite, and went into action. They restored and upgraded our systems, and operation. Saved us money and became a reliable solution to our business.
They are local, down to earth, very professional, and experts that have me as their fan! —Cocina411

2011-03-23 15:02:37   Awarebear put up a new website! Strange as this may seem, I think they may have stolen the template. Case in point, they have links on their home page to pages such as: [WWW]http://awarebear.com/cooking-classes-and-culinary-tours-san-francisco/?l=tours strange right? So if you go ahead and google cooking-classes-and-culinary-tours-san-fransisco, you can find the original site, www.culinaryeye.com. I'm shocked and appalled. And if you take a look at the source of each, you'll see they are basically the same site. Fine work AwareBear! —RyanA
