I grew up in Rochester. Spent some time close to Rochester in college, moved far away, moved back, moved not very far away, moved back again and now I live far away again.

2007-03-30 14:58:38   Fish, discussions about the wiki on content pages ought properly go into Talk pages. In fact, specific code implements Talk and its button. Comments on venues ought relate to the main content as part of the review. I hope i explained that clearly. —JohnLam

2007-03-30 16:19:38   The comment you added, while relevant to wiki is off-topic for the Boulder page. Comments are (generally) used on RocWiki to add a personal insight or review. Your comment was more of a meta-discussion of the Boulder page. This type of discussion belongs on the Talk page. See Wiki Community/Talk Pages for more info.

2007-03-30 16:52:17   Understood. I pretty much agree, but did the mini-mystery of who was censoring the posts and why become relevant to the establishment? Not sure. —BadFish

2007-03-30 18:25:12   I think it could be relevant because it could be an employee of Boulder that's doing the censoring. No one without something vested in the business would care that much about a bad review. —KimBee

2007-03-30 19:13:44   It not a matter of relevancy, that matter does need to be addressed. The inline comment feature is not the place to discuss these issues. That's what Talk pages are traditionally for. People read the comments to gauge the quality of an establishment's product or service. Not that some user/IP address is a jerk. —AdamDewitz

2007-03-31 10:40:36   Sorry to continue the drama, but I added a comment that someone at Boulder has been editing negative comments about the place. That's really sketchy in my book and would effect my decision to do business with them. —BadFish

2007-04-06 11:18:29   Guess what? I am coming back to Rochester for several weeks. —BadFish

2007-08-07 15:53:01   Mods have the right to remove highly suspicious comments, such as lots of people with near identical writing posting in quick succession from the same IP, particularly a non-sensical one. That's not censorship; it's a vital part of keeping RocWiki troll and spam free.

Further, at this point, most of what's being posted to To Go Taxi/Talk is meta-commentary on the commentary process. That simply does not belong there and from past experience, I can say that it's usually necessary to also remove the comments that spawned the exchange, so as to prevent it from coming up again.

(I am not a mod) —DaveMahon

2007-10-17 17:25:26   I don't know anything about Vinyl, so I tried to edit the page down to "just the facts" after it was so heavily pimped. If you think the page is still wrong, please edit it to make it more in line with the facts. I don't feel comfortable doing that because I haven't been there. Thanks. —RottenChester

2007-10-17 19:36:24   allowing someone to post fictitious statements is apprehensible. you want to hide behind your curtain go ahead, but that seems like the
cowardly thing to do.

2007-10-18 11:00:55   At the moment, Jose is unable to log in with his first account from any computer. He is also unable to even read the site from his home computer. —DaveMahon

2007-11-16 17:07:04   My intent wasn't to bury the Northfield issue by putting it on the Talk page. I did it reflexively, since we (generally) use Talk to discuss meta issues. I can see from your page here that you might not agree with that as a general rule, so maybe we could discuss it more.

In any event, it's a temporary measure. We're not done with that entry, not by a long shot. Right now, we're waiting to hear back from Pete, who is checking with the owner. After that, we're probably going to have to remove a bunch of astroturf generated by the people you identified. The end result will probably be some cleaned up comments on a couple of pages, and we'll probably leave the Talk page as a record of what happened. —RottenChester

2007-11-17 16:00:57   I hear you on the issue with talk - it just doesn't stand out. I'll see what I can do... —RottenChester

2007-12-07 10:27:48   Not much for criticism, are we badfish?

You are a deletion machine. —LanceReed

2007-12-07 10:31:10   Lance is mistaken, more discussion is on the Talk page.(It was moved, not deleted) —BadFish

2007-12-08 11:26:06   Oh, i wish i could remember where i saw it. I will search around! You stated something about the resevoir at cobb's hill and that you couldn't have anything with wheels on the path and it upset me greatly. I am moving right next door to cobb's hill in a week and i was excited to go rollerblade with my dog. Uh....when the snow melts, that is!!! EDIT: Found where you posted it. 2007-12-10 01:36:17   On Woody's, I'll agree that it was more acid-tongued editorial than fact, but it would still be handy to document the type of crowd in attendance.

Any idea on how that can be accomplished? —DaveMahon

2007-12-10 11:15:59   Damn. I was hoping that you had a brilliant idea. —DaveMahon

2007-12-10 13:14:02   Thanks for the skiing suggestions! —RachelBlumenthal

2007-12-20 09:12:29   Some internet jukebox's allow for filters based on genre. The jukebox I spoke of in particular used to have no such filters but some were added recently to limit the music available. —DarrenKemp

2008-03-06 12:07:51   Badfish I didn't touch the description on the SW Smoke Shop. I was referring to the pictures being oversized in the previous versions. —PeterBoulay

2008-04-01 14:15:49   Badfish—regarding the issue with your friend and Wild Noodles. Please suggest they call the Entertainment Book company @ 1-888-231-SAVE. Ask for Homer in the Escalation Department and he'll look into the issue. —PeterBoulay

2008-09-02 23:18:31   Park Ave is definitely a great place to cruise. You've got to step it up and start carving up some hills though! The Roc has so much to offer a longboarder. —WillChesebro

2008-10-03 14:35:30   Thank you BadFish, I did not mean to do that, my comment was deleted and I was looking around the page to see why. Thanks again. —AthenaStephanopolous

2008-10-07 14:55:02   You're absolutely wrong badfish, please remove that comment. Athena is my friend, and I helped her set up her rocwiki account and she frequently uses my computer. David Alkaher is a very good friend of mine, and I would NEVER use this website to slam his restaurant. Athena has no personal connection to anyone at Virtu, and has every right to state her opinion. But those are not my comments, or thoughts for that matter, and I'd appreciate you removing my name from something that I have nothing to do with. —kristenfloresfratto

2008-10-07 16:27:29   I noted kristen's concern on the virtu page —PeteB

2008-10-08 10:57:07   Hey BadFish, thanks for getting me in trouble with my friend, getting my computer priviledges revoked and announcing to the world that I don't have my own computer! You should be sure of your statements before you make them in a public forum and smear people's good names! And yes, I'm on one of Kristen's computers because I don't have one!!! Jerk... —AthenaStephanopolous

2008-10-08 14:22:28   I may be a bit of a jerk, but my observations are still sound. I did not make anything up, what I wrote was and *still is* verifiable. I just pointed out info that was already on the Wiki, and none of which created was created by me. —BadFish

2008-10-09 10:49:10   Obviously the lesson learned here is never let someone use your computer to post on this site. I certainly understand the need for overseeing its usage, and I'm sure that people have done all sorts of nasty things that require a warning or some action taken. But it seems that errors can be made by those overseeing, and assumptions can be made based on the information that is made public on this site, i.e. the IP address. Unfortunately for me, that was the case here, and I'm stuck with my name being wrongly accused, as well as my business, in a public place where people IN my business tend to browse. The Wiki contributors who are "watching" us should maybe come up with some other way call people out that is not potentially slanderous, or harmful to friendships and relationships. Possibly email a warning that your activity is suspicious, or post a notice on their userpage? It might prevent you from making mistakes that can prove more costly than you can imagine to the people being accused. —kristenfloresfratto
