Café 54 is a diner on Victor's main drag. The house-turned-food-establishment has a breezy front porch with tables, two rooms that have their own distinct but cozy feel, and a small but interesting menu for breakfast and lunch and now dinner.

My boyfriend and I had dinner at Cafe 54 this past Friday and our meal was just one great surprise after another. We started with the best crab cakes I've ever had. The accompanying sauce had the perfect level of heat, but the crab cakes were great by themselves, too. I had the mahi mahi entree and my mind is still blown from the anise in the sauce. I never would have expected it, but it's really an amazing combo. My boyfriend got the rack of lamb and it was cooked perfectly. We were pleasantly surprised to find grapes in the sauce. For dessert we had peach upside down cake with homemade strawberry sauce, and it was another unexpected but amazing combination.
I can't wait to go back to Cafe 54 sometime soon and see what Vern has on his menu next. Between the deliciously executed creative menu and the cozy atmosphere this is easily my new favorite restaurant in the Rochester area. —MeganHartman
