Captain Jim's Fish Market is a cool little fish market and restaurant located on the corner of North Winton Road and East Main Street with lots of choices. They also cook their fish, offering several options for baked fish, and of course fish fry (5 days a week).

There is a separate kosher fish preparation station. It is advisable to call in advance to find out which kosher fish are available.

2009-09-14 19:15:31   We have never been disappointed by anything purchased at Captain Jim's, they give great advice on how to store/prepare/etc. Have not tried eating there yet but we need to. —DottieHoffmann

2012-06-17 14:29:30   Captain Jim's makes a good fish fry. We were there last week and since we were on the way to the movies decided to eat in their dining area. BIG MISTAKE! The cafeteria style trays on which you carry your food were sticky, top and bottom. I think the last time they were washed was a few years ago. Tables were dirty and sticky. There is an older lady that sits there and stares at the people eating. When finished, I took our trays and tried to open the trash can lid, which stuck to my fingers with so much filth. I like their fish, but if their dining area is like this, I hate to see what the inside of the kitchen looks like. Not coming back. —Ricardo

2013-03-14 08:03:44   In response to Ricardo's post - I've never had the same experience and I'm there often. You basically order in full view of the kitchen so it's condition is rather obvious and you can tell the freshness of the product with your nose. Maybe the trays were dirty because you're a sloppy eater? —gordonanderson

2014-04-11 19:13:01   Finally got here after living in Rochester for 25 years and can't believe I waited this long. Great fish fry! Beer batter, light and delicate, fish cooked all the way through, moist and flaky. Definitely adding this to our routine. Hordes of customers, and the six folks behind the counter were very pleasant and efficient in getting us all out really quickly, both phone and walk in orders. Great place. —KatieSchmitz
