2010-11-11 12:00:29   What a surprise. Doesn't look like much from the front other than your everyday westside famliy restaurant. Then you go inside clean and cozy, and your greeted with smiles from a enthusiastic friendly staff. The menu caught me by surprise as it didn't overwhelm me with cottage cheese plates and and hot dogs 30 diffrent ways. The menu was creative, intresting and fun. The specials weren't the typical "let's get rid of the old crap first" sheet. I had the ham and cheddar grit griddle cakes. They were full of flavor crispy on the outside and filled with real shredded ham. My husband had the chorizo omlete which looked as if it was for two. I don't think I have ever seen a omelet that big.I stole a bite and must say it was AMAZING!!! The perfect cooked eggs were suffed with homemade chorizo sausage, caramelized onions and sharp cheddar cheese awesome, and my husband asked for one of their grilled biscuits that they give for free just for the asking. The homefries were some of the best I ever had. No slimmy old taters here, they were crispy well seasoned and super hot. The food was obviously perpared by a pro not a typical short order cook. Dewey diner is a hidden gem in Rochester. What a great little place. There was a couple across from us just as excited as we were, going on about how great the food was. Our server who was attentive and super friendly told us they were fairly new only about 7 or 8 months. I can't imagine what this place will become in a year or two. —LoriPatterson
