In 1908,
Frank Lloyd Wright built a house at 16 East Blvd, in Rochester, NY, for Edward E. Boynton. The house is built in his "prairie style," and its assessed value is $450,000 (about $100,000 less than the surrounding houses). His behavior during the construction of this house was markedly eccentric. He shunned companionship and lived on the lot, sheltering himself from the elements only with the help of a simple lean-to, and subsisted mainly on a diet of uncooked carrots.
