Friday Fish Fry

The Friday Fish Fry is a tradition in Rochester and is probably based mostly on Catholic practices of abstaining from meat on Friday. The Wikipedia article spells out the history and attributes the practice to Rochester and Upstate New York.

A typical Friday fish fry consists of fried Haddock served with french fries and coleslaw, though there are many variations.
