Highland Hospital, an affiliate of the University of Rochester Medical Center (abbreviated URMC), was founded in 1889. Highland is located directly north of Highland Park and is probably best-known today for a busy Obstetrics unit and its specialized Bariatric Surgery practice. Highland Hospital is recognized for combining advanced medicine with highly compassionate care. A true community hospital, Highland also benefits from being part of the University of Rochester Medical Center. Highland is known for its birthing center, women's health services, geriatric care, bariatrics (weight loss surgery) and the Evarts Joint Center.
