2007-11-17 09:14:44   The brisket is really good and I will go back just for the awesome baked beans!!! I never had baked beans that were made with black beans with the traditional beans. —DabeernFooddude

2008-10-06 14:02:42   This place is terrible! We waited 15 minutes for menus and when a waitress finally came over to take our order, another one came by 2 minutes later to do the same thing, completely unaware that the first one had already done so. The wait staff bickered in front of us and appeared completely confused. My companion's ribs arrived cold and my meal was completely bland and tasteless. The french fries looked like (and tasted like!) they came from a bulk bag from the grocery store. Will NEVER go there again. For real bbq, go to Dinosaur or Sticky Lips! —dmarie

2008-12-10 10:25:06   Went with my wife a couple of months ago, early on a Saturday night. Minuses first: They were already out of just about everything my wife wanted to order, in spite of it being before 6:00PM. Their BBQ sauce had no kick to it at all - it was almost cloyingly sweet. Pluses: The service was outstanding; The waitress checked on us at appropriate intervals, knew what she was doing, etc. The pickles were good. But I wouldn't go back for the ribs unless they change their sauce, that's for sure. —RichMulvey

2008-12-25 17:19:50   I've taken the family to JC's about 5 times this year and it's always been great. The owner constantly walks and monitors the dining room to check the satisfaction of each table. The service has always been good. The bar is excellent. The place is clean and pleasant with ample parking. But it's the food that brings us back. The house BBQ sauce is fantastic - we like it better than Dinosaur. They have a nice assortment of side dishes, and the portions are generous. And when you go, get the deep fried pickle appetizer - they are amazing! —KenBoyer

2009-01-18 21:11:24   We ate here last night. It wasn't bad, but it also wasn't great. The brisket was dry. The pulled pork was good, but I agree with RichMulvey that the sauces didn't have much kick (I'm a big Dinosaur Wango Tango and Devil's Due fan). The burger was ok, charbroiled, and thick. I also agree with dmarie that the fries sucked: they definitely reminded me of my school cafeteria's fries. The $12 coupon we had softened the bill a bit, but I'm not sure we'll go back. When I go out to eat, I want food I wouldn't normally cook at home, and I want to think it is wonderfully delicious. This wasn't it for me or my 3 companions. —KatieSchmitz

2009-07-11 16:24:06   Took the family here a few weeks ago. The service was unreasonably slow before the Saturday dinner crowd. The food was mired in mediocrity - all the meats were smothered in BBQ sauce, making me think that they were hiding something. I prefer to apply my own sauce, especially to brisket. Kid's meals were unreasonably priced. Food is definitely not worth the price of admission. Not big on recommending a chain restaurant, but Famous Dave's blows this place out of the water. —JohnBrown

2009-07-11 16:32:00   Scratch that last comment...if you want REALLY good BBQ, head over to Taste of Texas in Spencerport...possibly the best BBQ in the county. —JohnBrown

2009-08-20 18:30:29   I ate there last week and it was the BBQ I have ever had. The ribs were completely over cooked the had the consistancy of pulled pork. The fries said fresh cut but they tasted like frozen fries. The gumbo if you could call it that was the worst I've ever had, i've better gumbo out of a can. I'm a chef and I took a look in the kitchen and it wad fithy it was a pig stye and it reflected in there food, I don't know how they pass there health inspection. They also have no smoker so how can you call it BBQ. The owner said the have an electric smoker which is a joke. The owner was a complete a-hole and I advise every one to avoid this restaurant —Stevestevenson

2009-08-20 21:46:30   I'd bet 10 cents that Steve Stevenson is a disgruntled former employee. Call it a sixth-sense for these sorts of things. —EastSideStephen

2009-08-28 00:59:43   No eastsidestephen I'm a chef at 2vine so nice try. I walk into kitchens at restaurants I eat at because I usually know so or all of the employees. So I'm not a former employee they couldn't afford to pay me at that dump. It seems like maybe you are current employee at jc's slop house. —Stevestevenson

2009-10-18 18:55:50   we drove by at 6 pm on a friday and there were no lights on in the place. is it done? —JcPop
