The Jewish Community Center (JCC) is nestled alongside the Barge Canal at Lock 33 near the border between Henrietta and Brighton. It started in 1907 on Franklin Square, and moved to Andrews Street in the 1930's, and finally to the current site in 1973. The JCC recently celebrated it's 100th anniversary in 2007.
It offers a number of services to the Jewish community as well as the rest of Rochester. It has been a pioneer in offering fitness services and currently has a full-sized pool (with adjacent kiddie pool), Fitness Center, indoor track, racquet ball courts (one of the first in the area), outdoor tennis courts and more. Seniors and those with special needs are always welcome.
The JCC also contains the
Feinbloom Center for the Arts, which supports the Center Stage community theatre in addition to numerous festivals highlighting Jewish films, books and culture.
