2006-06-10 15:58:24   Seems to get the Pittsford "hip" crowd, but food is not memorable. It looks a bit desparate at times (like some of the patrons sitting at the bar - you'll know when you see one). —ChristineLeo

2006-06-12 07:12:17   "Not memorable" is good way to describe JoJo's food. However, you're a bit tough on the 40-something divorcees who hang out at the bar wondering if their match.com date's picture is going to be anything like the one in his or her profile. That could be you someday, after all. —RottenChester

2006-09-11 14:17:03   I was at JoJos last night; on a Sunday, which is hard to find a good rest. open in this town on a Sunday. As always the atmosphere was very upbeat and the staff was pleasant and personable. We ordered the clam appetizer special which was outstanding. It had a kick which was very good, alot of restaurants won't do that. The Ceasar salad was very big which we split. Both of us ordered the filet as an entree; I ordered mine with their amazing frites, MR and my friend ordered his black and blue (charred on outside, raw on inside). Both came out exactly as ordered. Both also came with a gernerous portion of brocolini which was not over cooked and had alot of flavor. We will definitely be going back, and bringing more people. Having been in the restaurant business, I am a bit critical and I loved it. —JohnMaggio

2007-07-10 15:10:16   My boyfriend swears he had the best steak of his life there. I had an unremarkable pot pie. I'm looking forward to going back and trying something else (I'm thinking steak, although it'd be hard to top Max's Chophouse). —RocGirl

2007-08-30 11:41:02   I have always enjoyed my meal at Jojo. You are right though, it looks like many Golddiggers may be hanging out at the bar.

I actually ate there on a recent Sunday as well because a nicer restaurant open in Rochester on a Sunday is a hard thing to find.

Nice trendy restaurant. —MrRochester

2007-11-10 14:40:33   We were asked at the door if we had reservations, and we did not so they sat us at a free table in the very center of the dining room. Perhaps our lack of reservation was an indication to the waitress that we were low class? I don't know what her motivation was, but we had plenty of money and are good tippers, so she missed out. Despite being in the very middle of the room, we were overlooked by the waitress who didn't even show herself until we had sat there for fifteen minutes. The service continued to be terrible as we waited forever for our food. The food itself was nothing special, just steak and frites. The steak was nothing that you wouldn't get in any other steakhouse and the "frites" were just french fries, with garlic on them. It amazes me how people delude themselves into thinking they're not selling french fries by simply calling them something else that makes them sound fancy. —CatMagro

2008-02-02 15:47:30   Love the Jojo. And yes, I did meet my match.com date (now wife) there. And yes, she did look like she did in the picture. Jojo's is defiantly Pittsford, but if your from the East Side..... you don't have a lot to choose from to begin with. The atmosphere may be a bit stuffy but it's got a cozy intimate feeling that is conducive to relaxing and conversing. Just my $.02

2008-03-07 16:13:25   My wife and I have eaten here several times. The last time we took some friends there as a celebratory dinner. The service was pretty good, although just a little overbearing. The food was excellent, as was the calamari appetizer. The guys had steaks which were cooked just as ordered. Overall, great food, nice cozy atmosphere. We'll continue to go back. —GusWeber

2008-06-02 01:31:23   I had a really good meal here last year. Strange but very tasty hot hummus as an appetizer; can't remember the entrees we had but they were both delicious. Hot bread. They need more beer on draft, though, which usually tends to be an issue in these types of establishments. Sever was warmer and more approachable than I'd expected. —MariahBetz

2008-10-18 20:22:39   Went there for dinner tonight - early Saturday dinner. OK, it's definitely a town and country crowd. Nothing at all like Park Avenue or Alexander Street. We both liked the place a lot, and much more than its sister restaurant Black and Blue. Great menu, solid and friendly service, very good food. The wine list is nice also; you can get a decent inexpensive bottle and there are some bigger ones for bigger coin. I had the filet - a very nice 8 oz with great flavor on mashed potatoes and spinach. The wife got the 1/2 chicken and brussels sprouts. It was so good that I took a couple of bites of each. I'm from Chicago and she's from NYC. We agreed that Jojo's could have a place in either - not something a lot of Rochester restaurants can claim. —wdrazek
