History
Settle in 1788, the first town meeting was held nine years later. The town adopted its current name (pronounced LYE-muh) in 1808. Over 30 miles west of Geneva, the last "white" outpost of its day, it was unquestionably the Wild West of the eighteenth century. By 1831, however, it was sufficiently well established to give rise to the
Genesee Wesleyan Seminary, one of the first co-ed colleges in the United States.
The Village of Lima is the largest community in the
Town of Lima, part of Livingston County.
Notable Attractions
Major Roads
Lima exists at the intersection of Route 15A and Route 5. It is four miles from I-390 (take exit 10 to Route 5 East).
