2006-08-25 13:57:55   The best “plate” in town bar-none! I've been known to go there so frequently that they put my order in when they see me walk in the door without even asking me. I can't begin to tell you how rough that is on the waist line. Even though it's not open late anymore and there are far fewer hookers to proposition you when you come and go, Nick’s is a downtown staple and I'd hate to ever see it go away. —ZedOmega

2006-08-26 09:42:34   Highly overrated and overpriced —MrPhil

2006-08-26 12:41:39   Of course overpriced. They should pay you to eat it. LOL. All the WASPS from the suburbs who want to "slum it up for a thrill" can't get enough. I think it is a two-day normal caloric intake per plate. How sad that people get their thrills from eating junk and driving in to laugh at the unfortunates who have to sell their bodies for a living a "downtown staple" THIS ATTITUTE is part of the problem with this dying city. —JohnPapdopoulos

2006-09-01 13:22:13   Yes, how sad indeed that people get their thrills from making incorrect generalizations about other people’s habits. I can’t agree more that this attitude is part of the problem with this city. Instead, those of us who are from the city and make it our home should continue to support our local businesses, like Nick’s, instead of running out to all the chain places in the suburbs. —ZedOmega

2006-10-22 08:00:30   The downtown location is awesome. The staff is friendly, fast and (usually) accurate. If you get your plates anywhere else (including the Lyell Ave. location) you're doing yourself a disservice. —DanMcKeown

2006-12-30 22:19:39   2:30-3:00 AM at Nick's in the 70's, 80's. An atmosphere rivaling New Years Eve in Times Square, The Trading Floor on Wall Street, clearance day at Filene's, Black Friday at WalMart. An experience lost to time, but a plate at Nick's is unique. —JoeMurty

2007-01-10 20:01:44   Some interesting trivia: Just watched an episode of "Unwrapped" on Food Network, where the theme centered around "funny foods"... and Nick Tahou's and the garbage plate were featured. After watching the guys at Nick's make one, I now have a huge craving... :) —CatherineConnolly

2007-01-17 02:43:36   The Tahoe's in Gates is in poor shape. Very rude employees and customers as well. Not a fun visit. Seems to be a haven for white trash. —RyGun

2007-03-07 01:18:14   so like, the lyell ave address is now "Steve T's Hots & Potatoes." When did this happen? ALERT THE MEDIA!! —ScottMyers

2007-03-08 17:40:33   [WWW]http://skotte.livejournal.com/53722.html I also spoke to a west sider at work today, and he informed me that Tahou's was sold to a family member and it was in the agreement that the Tahou's name could no longer be used. I don't know how true this is, but that's the rumor going around. —FattyFatFat
