2006-08-07 20:27:29   I enjoy this place a lot, especially in the warm weather. It's a good place to sit outside, enjoy the weather, and split a pizza with friends. The service is always attentive, the prices reasonable, and the interior has been beautifully restored. —RochesterGuy

2006-09-19 13:32:43   Went a few Sunday's ago and sat inside for the first time every. (I've always eaten on the patio in the past.) I was surprised at just how dark it was. I almost asked them if they could bring me a candle so I could see my food. My salad was fresh but drowning in dressing which reminded me the importance of always ordering salads with dressing on the side. My steak was pretty good but they had used a bit too much black pepper during prep or cooking so it had a stronger surface flavor than it should have. The veggies were perfectly cooked and the smashed potatoes were very good. Yes it was a meat and potatoes night which isn’t a common theme for me, but for some reason what I ended up going with. My server was attentive and paced the dishes perfectly as well. From multiple summer afternoons and evenings of bright outdoor meals, I now know the ambiance inside is completely different. I’ve always had good food there and will now consider it as a cold/cooler weather alternative. —ZedOmega

2006-09-19 15:29:58   Not just to "me too", but this is a restaurant that always satisfies my hunger. Bread with olive oil is available upon seating for pre-meal noshing, and portions are almost always appropriate to split between two people or have leftovers. My favorites are the red pepper tortelloni and both pollo pizzas. —NeilBardhan

2007-08-19 20:25:43   Decent. The wine list is good, especially by upstate Italian restaraunt standards. Dish pacing was fine. Unfortunately, our salads were severely bland. Both of our entrees used a marinara sauce wholly bereft of any depth or sophistication. Unless one loves Ragu brand pasta sauce, one should not be satisfied with watery, unseasoned sauce. Still, our lasanga and tortellini—aside from the store bought sauce—were decent. —JoshFritsch

2007-08-20 17:20:45   Since we discovered it on our own 5 years ago, we've returned again and again because the chefs have consistently prepared the fish (whether from the regular items or in specials) to perfection; never over or underdone. The fare is fairly priced for portions that are well-sized, delicious and nicely plated. We prefer sitting inside, which gives us a chance to watch the meals being prepared in the open kitchen. —RachaelLandau

2007-09-12 14:46:15   Why does it seem like the menu doesn't change here? I've been going here for over 10 years, and it's always the same. The food is always good...but change things up a bit! —MarcVera

2007-09-13 15:02:46   The food is hit or miss. Cream of broccoli soup, delicious. Tortelloni, delicious. Steak, awful. Penne vodka, thumbs down. I enjoyed the food when Kristin was the chef there a while back, she did a great job. Dont be put off by the dumpy looking building in front of Pomodoro, the place is eclectic inside since it is in an old train station behind the dumpy building. They do have one of the nicest patios in Rochester for the summertime. Uncomfortable Walmart plastic chairs though, they need to go. Also the parking lot needs paving, Sami Mena (owner) should be embarrassed to have people park in that lot. Dont go with a new car wash. Bathroom was filthy and rundown.—MrRochester

2007-12-22 21:12:41   We've lived so close to here for so many years and never went. Changed that tonight. Had a very nice meal here. Our server was very friendly and efficient without going overboard. Everything we ordered was quite good, the crab cake appetizer, our salads, and entrees (a pizza off the specials menu, and the lamb chops). Price was in our opinion moderate, a nice dinner for two including appetizer, salads, entrees, and a couple drinks can be had for under $100 (even well under, depending on your choices). We enjoyed our dinner and will go again. —DottieHoffmann

2007-12-27 11:44:30   I've eaten here quite a few times and have always been really happy with the food. The menu isn't huge, but I always get the wood oven pizza anyway. The crust is delicious and you can get it in white or whole wheat. The one time I went with my office for a celebration, the food did take a long time, but it was at the height of lunch hour, so I guess it's to be expected. That specific time, we ordered a few desserts (something I normally never get) and they were really, really good. I had something like a reese's peanut butter pie. I would definitly recommend giving it a try if you are there. Not sure if the desserts are made there, or somewhere else. —SaraChristine
