2007-08-25 08:52:18   I think this page is a great example of acceptable non-neutrality. About the only neutral information about realtors is their contact info.

My feeling is that Billy should be allowed to keep his ad copy, but that client comments on the page will effectively balance that (including the positive reviews). —DaveMahon

2007-08-25 20:16:35   Gotta disagree.

Every realtor has a set of neutral info: the types of property he sells, the areas where he sells it, and certifications, if any.

I agree that these can shade the truth, but the alternative is worse. We'll get a bunch of realtors trying to top each other's BS sales pitches. You're right that, eventually, comments may balance out the shilling on the page, but that's going to take a long time, and it might never happen.

Also, I think the embedded images serving as text need to go. They stick out like a sore thumb, are unfriendly to people using screen readers, and will go away if the realtor ever changes his URLs. —RottenChester

2007-08-25 20:37:28   How much would that information differ from real estate agency to real estate agency? It doesn't make sense to have every single realtor have their own page, particularly in organizations as large (and revolving) as Nothnagle or Century 21.

I fully agree with the images as embedded urls. I was surprised to find out that even worked!

I think the logo currently at the top of the page would be appropriate (perhaps off to the side?). However, we'll need Mr. Belknap's written permission to host the image locally.

The rest of the 'headings' absolutely should be removed. I can't even see the value of converting them to text. —DaveMahon

2007-08-26 10:17:34   Much better. I should have said "every realty agency" — I agree that every realtor probably shouldn't have a page.

Billy, if you're reading this, it isn't because I'm hostile towards realtors - I just want your page to be useful. Right now, it isn't. It sounds like you sell anything to anyone, anytime. C'mon - you must have a specialty. Do you sell houses? Commercial? Both? Where do you mainly work? Suburbs, city? In other words, how are you different from your competition? —RottenChester

2007-09-21 19:17:38   I apologize for the content and embedded image. I have removed the images and changed the content to be a bit more specific. I have to admit that I am new to this format (RocWiki). Please let me know if there is anything else I can do to improve the site and make it more useful. I will also let my customers know about this site so they can enter their own comments to balance the information I have provided. —BillyBelknap
