The Rochester City School District (RCSD) serves over 59,000 people from preschool to adult education and is is an important part of Rochester's growth (and/or decline). The school district is organized into three "Zones" as shown at the right.

There has been madness in budgets, random school closings, charter schools, and all sorts of weird stuff.

• District Web Page - Children who are residents of the Rochester City School District and four years old before December 1, are eligible for this free service.

Elementary schools are broken up into four categories: Northeast Zone, Northwest Zone, South Zone, and Citywide Schools.
