Rohrbach's is a local brewer which owns and operates a restaurant in Gates, and its Rohrbach Brewery and retail location near the Public Market. Rohrbach's beer is available in over 100 locations in Western New York.

Rohrbach's Gates location is a full-service restaurant that also serves Rohrbach beer. The Railroad Street location offers tours and tastings, and customers can purchase growlers to take home. It has nine fermentation tanks with space to expand in the future. They have also recently expanded their retail times at the production brewery on weekdays from about 9:00AM until 4:00PM. If the windows are fogged up, they are more than likely brewing!

Rohrbach's is also a supporting sponsor of [WWW]Flour City Cycling.

2006-10-23 19:29:44   Great food, beer, and service. Be sure to try the "Bluebeary" Ale. My favorite entree is "Beef on a Wick", an absolutely delicious German version of a French Dip on a squishy kimmelwick roll. —RachelBlumenthal

2006-11-26 07:43:41   had a nice dinner there with friends last night.... bacon blue burger...mmmmm... the waitress brought us a few samples from the bar so we could pick out beers... i went with the pumpkin spice and was pleasantly suprised! —JcPop

2006-11-27 13:01:23   This is a nice choice for pub food when you are tired of sports bars. The main dish salads were both inventive and quite large! Definitly worth the drive for a meal. —EllenKelsey

2006-11-27 16:56:30   There seem to be two pages for this (there's also one called Rohrbachs). Should we consolidate the comments and info into just one page? —RachelBlumenthal

2007-01-06 21:20:11   One of the better restaurants in the Tinseltown area - good beer and good food. I especially like the house burger which is 10oz, expertly seasoned and comes on a toasted buttered "panini roll". Tasty! —RufoSanchez

2007-03-23 08:37:46   My favorite bar in town. Worth the drive to Gates. The Vanilla Porter is to die for. I like to go here on weekends and get some wings and highland ale soup. —KimBee

2007-04-06 11:30:44   I love Rohrbach's beer, so I was happy to have a few pints right from the source. I'm partial to the Scotch Ale, but they are all quite good. For dinner I had the sauerbraten (a thick piece of roast-beef, brined in vinegar I believe), which came with a side of spitzel (chewy german pasta) and an outstanding sweet-and-tangy side of red cabbage. Around the table the chicken french, the fried cheese-curds, and the reuben got good reviews, while the steak got a not-so-good review. —EastSideStephen

2007-04-06 19:32:10   best bacon blue cheese burger in town... i had the pumpkin ale last fall and loved it... can't wait for it to arrive again.... —JcPop

2007-05-26 02:24:22   The Rohrbach burger is really fantastic. It's oblong, not round, and is topped with tasty sauteed onions. It's one of the better burgers in town.
Rohrbach's is definitely worth a visit, especially if you're planning to go to a movie at nearby Tinseltown (see Movie Theaters) —NathanHenderson

2007-11-28 15:59:14   Great sausages, and the Scotch Ale is fantastic! —JackPorcello

2007-11-29 12:24:09   I had the beer tasting thing. They were all just ok. Nothing blew me away really. I forget what kind of sandwich I had, all I know is that my stomach hurt a lot afterwards. But I'll probably go back again and try something different. —MarcVera

2007-12-07 01:22:54   Went for lunch today. Had the scotch ale, Highland Cheddar Soup, and Smokehouse burger and fries. Everything was outstanding and service was good. Picked up a few growlers of Blueberry and Scotch last weekend and will probably do the same this weekend. You can get them at Rohrbachs as well as Beers of the World. —WestSideB

2009-01-17 17:29:28   I loved this place when it was in the 'Wedge and have sentimentally held it in very high regard for many years. However, we recently made the journey out to their remaining Buffalo Road location and I was less than impressed with my meal. The nachos had liquid cheese and the buffalo chicken sandwich didn't live up to my memory. It was small and soggy. Despite having my good memories of their food tarnished, the Scotch Ale they make never fails to deliver. The rest of their custom beer lineup is outstanding, as well. May they live long and proper (in the field of beer). —BatGuano

2009-03-12 14:14:52   Really good food, good service. Usually a bit of a wait during dinner rush (especially friday/weekend nights) and can get really crowded while you're waiting. Fortunately there's a great selection of beers to try while you're waiting and the crowd is friendly. Everyone loved their meals. I had a basic chicken sandwich that was delicious and fries were crispy & perfect. Will go back there next time I'm in Gates area. —JaimeTe

2009-03-13 10:02:02   LOVE Rohrbach beer and cant wait for the annual brewfest this summer! Restaurant has some nice German staples and quality of food isnt bad. I have friends from NYC who request to go here each time they visit me, says something! —MrRochester

2009-03-15 14:13:08   I like the laid back atmosphere. The food is decent (I really like their pesto vinagerette) and the beer excellent (as per my friends). —OneLove

2010-03-05 23:20:54   Went tonight (Friday) around 6pm with my visiting parents and man was it packed. We didn't get seated till like 8 something and didn't leave till 9pm. The service was kind of inattentive but the menu was great. The fries with my fried fish were excellent too. —DamianKumor

2010-03-28 17:37:27   We went for dinner last summer and loved our food, beer, and experience. However, last night, our dinners were sub-par (burgers were ordered to be medium-well and it was charred on some parts and raw in others parts, pastrami sandwich was very fatty, and there are better reubens in other restaurants in Roch). The service was TERRIBLE (we waited for our meals for over 45 minutes - and the waitress was very unapologetic about the wait when she actually appeared). There were plenty of other tables who were seated AFTER us, but they got their food and FINISHED their meals BEFORE we got ours. Don't think we'll be returning anytime in the near future. Their beers are yummy - as are their traditional pretzel (especially with the peanut butter mustard), but it's not worth the headache. —Acarp

2010-08-11 13:40:52   Food is heavy, greasy and bland; German. The american style selections are just bland and uninspired. Beers are just OK, nothing extraordinary. Not a lot of subtlety to their flavors/styles. The white chicken chili is about the only thing I recommend you try. Their Scotch Ale is somewhat famous, if not just for the high alcohol content. I don't mind the Red Wing Ale, but it doesn't really knock me out. If you aren't on the west side of the city then, to me, its not worth the drive. —PersonFace

2010-08-11 15:08:41   The Scotch Ale from Custom Brewcrafters I think is of a much better grade then Rohrbach's —PeteB

2011-05-09 20:16:21   I have to disagree with the last couple of comments. This is one of my favorite places to eat in the gates area. I love there beef on a wick. There home brews are very good as well. the place is just a nice place to kick back and relax with friends. —rlsmith

2012-07-20 12:35:36   I have been to the restaurant in gates. The food was good and the service was good. I would go here again. —bonnev659
