2006-11-08 09:49:17   I went there a few weeks ago. Quite a haul from Henrietta and it was not worth it. Don't get me wrong - the food is not terrible but .. i wouldnt drive this far for it. The tom yum soup is flavourful. However, the chicken's consistency was..simply weird. It was really thin, chewy and somewhat slimy. Maybe it is just me..could anyone else confirm/deny this? —OneLove

2008-03-01 21:41:54   CHUNG THAI closed last fall, remodeled (much needed!), and reopened last month as SAK'S THAI CUISINE with new management, new menu, new chef, new everything except the chandelier in the dining room. The fish tank is gone, sadly, but you really won't miss it for all the major improvements. Excellent food, great service, and you can still ask for traditional Chinese food off the menu if you must. 2008-03-25 17:21:56   Hands down the best Thai food in Rochester. Acutally, the best asian food in Rochester. No matter what type of asian meal you are looking for this is the place to go. The service was fantastic, and the food even better. I would drive from farther then Henrietta to eat at there. Be sure to check it out! —BrianMorton

2008-03-30 21:17:52   It's a little pricier than The King And I, but it's very good - on the order of Jasmine's Asian Fusion. Along with Jasmine's, one of the few classy Asian places with upscale food in Rochester. Particular recommendations include Shrimps-in-a-blanket appetizers and Massaman (SP?) curry. This one receives a strong recommendation. —RossMessing

2008-03-31 12:28:53   After hearing great recommendations, my partner and I went here for dinner this past Saturday. Everything tasted delicious, we had the scallop pineapple boat and a spicy shrimp dish w/ celery, peanut sauce, etc. BUT, the next day, my partner and I had massive, massive headaches. We steer clear of MSG like the plague and think that something we ate there had a ton of MSG. Like I said, the food was great...but for us, the aftermath isn't worth the pain. —MarcVera

2008-04-02 18:28:17   I VISITED SHORTLY AFTER OPENING AND A LITTLE SLOW AT FIRST BUT THEN I WENT BACK AND THE WAIT STAFF HAD GOTTEN IT TOGETHER AND WERE MUCH FASTER. FOOD WAS EXCELLENT, BEST THAI FOOD THAT I HAVE TASTED IN THE CITY. VERY NICE ATMOSPHERE AND DECOR, ELEGANT SETTING, NOT LIKE A FAST FOOD OR DINER RESTAURANT. FOOD IS PREPARED FRESH AND DISHES VERY PRETTY AND PLENTY OF IT. I HAVE SINCE GONE BACK SEVERAL TIMES WITH EACH TIME JUST AS GOOD AS THE LAST. I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYONE WHO LIKES GOOD ASIAN FOOD WITH A LITTLE CLASS. —LindaSwaney

2008-04-12 23:19:20   Food was delicious, though portions were a bit on the small side, considering the price (e.g., $5.95 for a small bowl of Tom Yum soup, $15.95 for a single fillet of fish). The flavor or some of the dishes, such as the curry in the Choo Chee Pla, was truly fantastic. Atmosphere & decor were very nice - a pleasant surprise, given the plain strip-mall exterior.

Overall, it's a step up from other local Thai restaurants, especially if you're looking for an alternative to the rushed service at The King and I or the lack of service at Puket. —NathanHenderson

2008-04-16 17:19:47   Brought my family here last night for dinner. It was very nice decor not your average thai resturant. It reminded me a lot like Jasmine's Asian Fusion in Webster( also thai cusine with a mix of every kind of asain food) the chairs are the same i believe? It almost seemed as though they modeled there resturant after them. It is also similar to Phuket also in Webster. I was dissapointed in the Pad thai - too salty and over cooked noodles. The service was nice but very slow. Not worth the drive and money it was just okay. —RyanMurphy

2008-04-22 21:19:17   Decided to give this place another shot. I am glad I did. I had the cashew chicken and it was most excellent. The vegetables were crisp and fresh and the sauce spicy (some Thai places have sickly sweet sauces). I recommend it! —OneLove

2008-04-27 12:34:02   This is the BEST Thai food I have had ...ever. King and I, which is more conveniently located and cheaper, is by comparison, McDonalds. The ride from Henrietta is a bit of a haul, but the food is worth it. I love the fish-fillet in the roasted chili sauce. The shrimp-in-a-blanket is a great appetizer. And I am not a big fan of coconut ice-cream, but their coconut ice-cream is just superlative. The owners are a husband and wife team - he's the head chef and she's a server. The service is always good. The place is well-decorated. It's good for a date, or just dinner with your friends. —SukanyaBasu

2008-04-29 10:25:56   Loved this place both times I've been. Ross is right: the Massaman curry is the best I've ever had, hands down, and they also make an impressively tasty Thai Iced Tea using highly-flavored Lapsang Souchong tea. —PaulArdis

2008-05-01 12:29:46   This place is really tasty! I had the Pad Gatiem (Garlic w/ chicken) and I was very pleased. The decor is upscale but still family friendly in my opinion. Check this place out! I don't think that you will be disappointed! —FrankieEngelbert

2008-05-27 21:52:58   this place is very similar to Jasmine's Asian Fusion. even the decoration is the same. however the biggest difference is the food and service. JAF's food is very fresh yet the dishes my family and I got here i knew the veggies were frozen and the service here isnt quite attentive and they don't like to smile. Jasmine's Asian Fusion must have had a BIG influence on this restuarant, almost there Sak's good try. —VickyBeckham

2008-07-07 20:00:19   We went last week, the food was delicious. But half way through the meal I got a headache - one that I usually get if the food had MSG. This food definitely did, which is a shame as I would love to go again. I wish they would stop using MSG. —DesignDreamz

2008-07-21 10:02:33   The service was very friendly and quick, and I really enjoyed my meal (pork dumplings, Thai grilled bbq sesame beef, and sweet rice with custard and mango.) I highly recommend the sesame beef—it was cooked perfectly (very tender) and the sauce was pleasantly sweet. Next time, I'll try something spicy :) —RachelBlumenthal

2009-02-01 12:46:06   Nice husband/wife team. Food is very good, large portions and fresh. Would definitely suggest trying out. —SaRoyal

2009-05-18 22:36:29   Sak's is amazing, definitely the best thai in the roc. i work right down the road and count myself lucky to be able to eat lunch there as often as i'd like w/out having to deal w/the commute (which btw is definitely worth it) i've tried everything on the lunch menu marked w/the hot&spicy denotation at least once and have yet to be disappointed. cashew chicken, pad phet, pad khee mou, and green curry are all fantastic and i have coworkers who are so enamored w/the pad thai as to be completely unwilling to order anything else. unlike some of the previous posters i've always been impressed w/how fresh the product seems to be. the lady who's always at the counter (co-owner/wife of the chef i think??) is also always super friendly and remembers the names of everyone in my office who orders there w/any regularity. can't say enough about how much i love this place. —adamwright

2009-07-21 14:17:29   Went here for lunch for my first time. Very good!! Great flavor, portions and plate presentation. —selfclaimedcritic

2009-11-06 17:08:10   We've gone back a couple of times recently and both times have requested to not add MSG and they were very nice about it and complied. Saks has now become our favorite Thai restaurant - great food, ambiance and service. —DesignDreamz
