second storie is an organization that hosts free indie art + craft events around Rochester. They feature unique artists and craftspeople in settings more intimate than the typical street fairs. These are hip, artistic, juried events - not your grandmother's country craft fair. A diverse array of handmade goods are available for purchase - clothing, collage, jewelry, knitting, letterpress cards, pottery, sculpture, and more. Many of the vendors use recycled or organic materials in their work. Each event also promotes "craftivism" by collecting donations for a charity.

"second storie is rochester's answer to a growing movement towards a new approach to art + craft. we are bringing an edgier concentration of more current art + craft to our thriving creative community. we are a small group of women working to create something much larger than us alone. our hope is to foster a sense of family among indie artists + crafters. we're also super excited to provide a shopping experience unlike any other in rochester, for those seeking something made with care and a conscience."

second storie} i heart handmade at Spot Coffee, February 1st, 2008, featured 25 vendors and live music by Gregory Paul and Baby Shiver's Boutique. Craftivism: fabric donations made into blankets/toys for pets at local animal shelters.
