See Gone, But Not Forgotten

In February 2014 owner Joe McBane announced that he was closing Tap & Table and opening a new venture called Rochester Taproom in the same space. "Great drinks, live sports, pub games and a truly exciting house made sausage menu. It will not be your average sausage bar! Expect high quality and value with our usual stylish approach," he said in a message on Facebook.

2012-07-30 11:37:39   I guess Tap and Table has been opened for about a month now and, being big fans of Tap and Mallet, a group of us decided to give it a try. On a rather quiet and empty Sunday night, we showed up and were immediately seated. It took our server about 4-5 minutes to show up with water and then she told us she would be back shortly to take a drink order. A good fifteen minutes passed from that point without seeing a single staff member. If T&T has plans to give patrons a free place to sit, undisturbed, while they drink a carafe of ice water, then they're doing a great job. If they'd like to actually sell food and drink, the service has a long way to go. Having talked with some friends and read around online, it seems this has been a somewhat frequent problem during dinner. I'm trying to verify another comment made by one of the other people I was dining with, so I may come back with an edit. —willmullaney

2012-08-06 16:40:03   Actually waited 20 minutes for a server to even say hello to us at the Tap and Mallet so we left. We will only go there for Beer. Looking forward t o checking out Tap & Table. Hopefully they will train the the servers. —NewtonNola

2013-02-17 00:15:40   Service was great; food was creative and tasty. They were kind enough to let us order food even though we arrived at 11, when the kitchen was closing. Had a terrific cocktail - French 88 - recommended to me by our server. Beautiful view of the river and downtown Rochester; can't wait to sit outside in the summer. —LH

2013-10-13 11:07:28   Finally made it over to T&T last night, around 7pm. There were a lot of people at the long bar, but I was able to find a seat without too much trouble. The bartenders were fantastic, chatting away and helping me decide which of the specialty cocktails to try. They made tasty drinks and did a great job of leaving my date and I alone so we could chat, but still checking in regularly to see if we needed anything. Can't comment on the food or dining area, but the bar atmosphere, drinks and bartenders were great and I'm looking forward to experiencing them all again. Too bad I can't say the same for the date I was with ;) —LauraShum

2014-03-03 18:51:57   The fact that he identifies his new venture as a "sausage bar" doesn't really make me want to go there..... —DottieHoffmann
