2014-02-22 11:10:01   Closed for remodeling! I hope they reopen soon, we got a gift certificate for X-mas and their food is good! —yebyen

2014-02-22 16:24:44   In Rochester, the term "closed for remodeling" usually means they've run out of money, and are trying to sell the place. —alex-c

2014-02-25 07:30:55   I am not encouraged that their website is for sale and their facebook page is closed, phone not accepting messages. :(

You shouldn't sell gift certificates with a 1-year expiration if you plan to go out of business in one month! —yebyen

2014-03-31 14:15:33   Good news! Their website no longer reflects that it is "for sale" — I think that someone forgot to renew the domain name because they were too busy worrying about the flood. I e-mailed to see if they have an estimated reopen date, but their info@ address is not in service. If I had to guess it's going to be some time after whenever the canal itself is back in business that they open up again. —yebyen

2014-07-30 12:35:04   Their website is gone, sign in the window still says "Closed for remodeling"; the town offices said that the ownership of the property was transferred to a pension company or some transfer that looked like it might have been in foreclosure in January, around January 11th. I found this posting from the December 2013 Minutes of the Rochester Mopars, whose last meeting was held at Rocco's, their website also seems to be defunct but it was still in Google Cache:

"Final decisions were made for the upcoming Christmas Party on January 11, 2014, here at the Boardwalk Inn. However, as you all know by now, our party has been postponed due to major water problems at the Boardwalk Inn. As soon as repairs are completed, we will reschedule our party, and I will let everyone know the details as they become available – stay tuned."

I wish I had known sooner they were not coming back. There might have been some recourse in February, but now all of the town and village offices assure me that I will probably never see that $50 again, maybe if I am lucky and talk to the right person I get a couple of beers for it. Rocco's is closed too; there is a rumor that the ownership is the same, or the owner of Rocco's next door was once the owner of Boardwalk, I have nothing to substantiate that. Just bar talk. Kind of a huge bummer.

If the new ownership does open the place again, I hope they honor old gift cards. I have a feeling they sold a bunch of them at Christmas time and took the money to Tijuana. —yebyen
