James Cunningham and Sons built carriages here in the 19th century. When the automobile came around, Cunningham produced early motor vehicles. The factory was later used by other businesses, and has been vacant for nearly 20 years.
Planned for 2010 availability, the Carriage Factory will offer attractive residential lofts and commercial space. The Lofts at the Carriage Factory will become a catalyst in the continued revitalization of the Susan B. Anthony Neighborhood, which is adjacent.
The building was purchased by the same Florida developer who is updating the Academy Building.
