The Shop sells and installs home video and audio, and car audio. Rochester residents will probably recognize their jingle, "Stop at the Shop", which has been part of their TV and radio ads for at least a decade.
The CD Exchange record store is located in the rear of the Henrietta Stereo Shop building.

2010-03-07 19:05:35 I _really_ want to like the Stereo Shop — a local business, well-known lifetime service policy, etc. However, every time I go there I come away disappointed with their sales staff, and have found myself buying from other stores instead. A couple examples: 1) when my in-laws wanted a TV, we bought from Stereo Shop specifically because of their service policy, but the salesman was unhelpful, no products they had advertised on their website or that they'd quoted via e-mail to us were actually in stock, and they ended up pitching a different (and more expensive) product in its stead. 2) When my husband and I wanted to buy a TV, the story was similar: few TV's in stock, a salesman who appeared as if he wanted to be anywhere in the world but in that building selling me a TV, topped off with a misleading 10%-off coupon in the paper (10% off "regular price", not the lower prices they have marked on the TV's in the showroom). After this latest disappointment, I broke down and went to Best Buy instead. As a local business with a good service policy, they'd have my business absolutely wrapped up if they'd improve their sales experience. —LePetitChien
2010-03-08 01:02:37 I have to agree with the comment above. I want to support The Stereo Shop, and I have in the past, but I rarely recommended people go there to buy a product. Why? For many of the reasons given above, but mainly, the sales staff doesn't seem like they want to be there. I bought a full stereo system from them many years ago and a week later I decided I wasn't pleased with it. What did they tell me? "Sorry, we aren't Best Buy. You can't return it, but you can EXCHANGE it for another product." That's just poor service. —MarcVera
