University Avenue starts at the intersection of Main Street and the Inner Loop, and it runs south east about 20 blocks before merging into East Ave here. If you are on University Ave, you are in the (extended) Neighborhood of the Arts area. This street is probably most interesting in the area near where it crosses Goodman.
A lot of nifty stuff, like the Memorial Art Gallery, Starry Nites Cafe, Writers & Books, Towners, and Rock Ventures is on University Ave. The road was named University Ave because it was the site of the original campus of the University of Rochester, and was later the site of several dorms and the college for women. Today, the MAG is the only building currently owned by the University.
