Rochester has gone to the NCAA tournament in 5 of the last 6 seasons. In both 2003 and 2004, they reached the Final Four. In 2006, 2007, and 2008, they reached the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Division III playoffs. They won the JP Morgan Chase Tournament the last 5 out of 6 years. The Yellowjackets were 22-6 last season and returns four starters and 11 letterwinners overall from that team.
Head Coach James Scheible came to the University in August, 1999, and brought with him a legacy of success. He brought his ability to rebuild a basketball program - as evidenced by his work at Elmira College. In 2000-01, only Scheible’s second year at Rochester, the Yellowjackets won the ECAC Upstate New York Championship (16-11), then won again in 2001-02 (18-9).
