This place really doesn't make the grade. I'd hate to resort to having pizza shipped to me from Chicago (like Lou Malnati's). --["RichardSarkis"]
------
2007-04-02 19:44:57 nbsp You want the authentic pizza, RichardSarkis, you gotta go to the authentic city. Chain restaurants are no substitute for proper culinary tourism. You could hop on Amtrak tonight and be brunching at Gino's tomorrow and here you are disappointed that an international franchiser based out of Boston couldn't produce an authentic Chicago-style pizza in the midst of upstate New York. Sigh! --["RyanTucker"]
------
2007-04-02 20:00:01 nbsp Based out of Boston? The original Uno's is in Chicago. Maybe the corporate end of things is in Boston now, but it is in fact a Chicago-based chain. From what I've heard, the original location in Chicago is much much better than any of these franchises, though. I'm not going to defend Uno's based on a comparison to "authentic Chicago-style" because I haven't been to Chicago yet, but sometimes I really get in the mood for Uno's. If real Chicago pizza is like that but even better...I'm getting on that Amtrak! --["RachelBlumenthal"]
------
2007-04-02 20:08:25 nbsp For the record, I also get the hankering for the deep-dish pizza and end up at Uno's once in awhile. It's close to work and is quite tasty. I was being persnickety with my previous comment. :-) --["RyanTucker"]
------
2007-04-02 20:18:55 nbsp The original location is in Chicago. It's worth a visit. They also have second location down the street, aptly named Duo. As for the pizza, the chain restaurant version of the original does a pretty good job of recreating the pizza you would get at the Uno in Chicago. On some occasions I would even admit that I have had a better pizza at the Webster or Henrietta location. The Chicago location has to deal with the OMFG, let's go to the original Uno location crowd. So it gets really busy and the food quality seems to suffer. --["AdamDewitz"]
------
2007-04-02 20:21:21 nbsp Pizza is pretty good, but airport Uno's locations are awful. Never go to an Uno's at an airport. --["GrahamSaathoff"]
------
2007-04-02 20:25:48 nbsp Agree with Graham, its like the airport vendors bought the naming rights, but couldn't afford access to the recipes. --["AdamDewitz"]
------
2007-04-02 22:39:13 nbsp RyanTucker: I totally agree, luckily for me I've been traveling to Chicago many times over the past year and I've been learning what real deep dish tastes and looks like (my favorite: spinach and mushroom deep dish!). I've at least tried Lou Malnati's (Naperville), and Giordano's and I'll have to add Gino's and the original Uno's location based on your recommendations. --["RichardSarkis"]
------
2007-04-02 23:10:45 nbsp It is incredibly how wildly different the chain restaurants are in taste / quality, compared to the original in Chicago. I can't stand the chain locations. --["RobertPolyn"]
------
2007-04-03 00:13:03 nbsp Yes my friends, deep dish is available from a local restaurant! - ["Chester Cab Pizza"] --["RobertPolyn"]

------
2007-04-11 19:02:20 nbsp i like the shrimp and crab fondue and buffalo chicken quasadilla....tasty. --["JadeRaven"]
------
2007-10-09 16:45:20 nbsp The happy hour menu (I think 4-7 pm Sun-Thurs) is a really good deal - each plate is $1.99-3.99 and ordering a bunch of different ones and spliting is an inexpensive way to have a decent meal. They also have a "rush" lunch special during the week, avaliable in 15 minutes once ordered. The food is good, but really heavy and greasy...something I enjoy every now and then. --["SaraChristine"]
------
2007-10-09 21:36:07 nbsp Fine point: the second, pre-chain Pizzeria Uno location in Chicago is called Pizzeria Due, not Duo. --["MarkJackson"]
------
2007-10-10 00:25:06 nbsp To date, I've not found a better deep dish than at Original Uno's in Chicago (Due's should be fine, but if you're gonna go to Chicago, you might as well get the atmosphere :). Why is it so good? Probably because it takes 45 minutes to get your pie -- you have to place your order when you request a table. --["NathanHenderson"]
------
2007-12-21 08:49:42 nbsp Greece location is closed. --["MrPhil"]
