2008-03-23 19:39:26 Tricia, would you mind if I edited the photos you recently posted for color and image/file size? Please let me know, didn't want to change anything without your permission —DottieHoffmann
2008-03-24 05:52:16 Tricia, take a look at the pages for Cibon, Park Oxford Deli, Piatzas, and Sinbads. I did not delete your photos, I edited them and added them so you can see what was done and make the call. There was nothing wrong with the code you used to place the image. My comments were in regards to the image files themselves. I did basically three things. (1) Minor color and exposure correction (2) Re-sizing of the image dimensions, and (3) increasing compression to scale down the file size. The reason for item #2 is to keep the image from spilling outside of the browser window for web browsers that do not auto-resize image files. Large images force you to scroll the screen up and down and left and right to see the entire thing. My smaller images should display correctly in the normal browser window. #3 has to do with file size. Your images were about 2-1/2 to 3 MB in size, they take up a lot of space on the wiki server, and they take a long time to download for each user. Someone using dial-up would probably never get to see them. In comparison, my images are about 120 Kb in size, you'll note how quickly they load, easing the burden on the server and the net as a whole. You'll also note that at screen resolution, there's no real visible change in quality. Hope you don't mind and if you want further information on doing stuff like this, let me know. You are free to re-edit those pages and delete the older files, or blow me off and keep your originals if you want :-)). Thanks for your contributions to the wiki. —DottieHoffmann
2008-03-25 08:49:02 Hi Tricia...I got in on it long ago...almost 10 years now. It really is an addiction. Wanna trade off a few bills sometime? —PeterBoulay
2008-03-26 16:23:28 Tricia, you are right some type of automated thing would be great for the photos, but I'm not sure the wiki software is that "smart". Glad I was able to help, please let me know if there is anything else I can do. —DottieHoffmann
2008-04-03 08:17:44 Tricia: I have no problem passing on your information to the bar manager of Magpie, I will send him a note and see if he is interested. Or, come to think of it, I will ask him in person on Friday as he is not much of an email checker. —DarrenKemp
