The combat system allows for critical hits, incidental damage, as well as a complex yet approachable reversal system permitting counter-attacks and dodges. Damage in Amputheatre is measured in "pints" -a derivation of the traditional gaming term "points" to play up the gore aesthetic. Every 10 Pints inflicted upon a Slasher deposits a Blood Pool on the board via "Splatter Dice". The Splatter Dice regularly see Blood Pools placed on the board in ludricrous trajectories, proving a humorous contrast to the dark subject matter. - - Amputheatre uses 3 3/4" tall custom action figures as playing pieces. Each figure has a removable head and arms to signify damage in combat.
