The Buffalo Bills are the closest NFL team to Rochester. The Bills hold their summer training camp at St. John Fisher College here in Rochester. Like NFL teams in other parts of the world, they have good years and bad years. Unlike NFL teams in other parts of the world, they haven't really had much in the way of "good years" since the OJ Curse plagued the club, following the former running back's well-known debacle back in 1994.

In January 2013, Syracuse University's Head Coach Doug Marrone was hired as the new Head Coach. The 2013 draft was highlighted by the drafting of First Round QB E.J. Manuel.
