Chapel Hill refers to both a nondenominational chapel available for weddings and sixty-one attached luxury apartments. The property also includes the Chapel Hill Annex, eleven private townhouse residences located in the back.
The complex was originally Academy of the Sacred Heart, founded in 1855 by the Society of the Sacred Heart of Buffalo as a Catholic girls' school. The site at 8 Prince Street was purchased in 1863 and already contained a large Italianate mansion. An addition was completed in 1874 and the Gothic chapel in 1890.
Located in the East Avenue Historic District near the Neighborhood of the Arts.
