Aside from the natural beauty, which includes the wetlands and the woods, this park is in very good condition compared with Washington Grove, my usual stomping grounds, as it's not so heavily traveled. At the entrance to the park off Penfield Rd., the park signage is very clear, so it's easy to see the trails and figure out how to traverse the entire place. Can be dangerous footing after a lot of rain or during the winter when the slopes ice up. Signs are posted everywhere that dogs should be on a leash, else you risk a $75 fine according to Brighton regulations. --["Users/KatieSchmitz"]</span> </td> </tr> </table> </div> https://rocwiki.org/Corbett%27s_Glen_Nature_Parkhttps://rocwiki.org/Corbett%27s_Glen_Nature_Park?action=diff&version1=14&version2=15&ts=1249403413Corbett's Glen Nature Park2009-08-04T16:30:13ZBradMandellfix allens creek, file -4 not uploaded yet <div id="content" class="wikipage content"> Differences for Corbett's Glen Nature Park<p><strong></strong></p><table> <tr> <td> <span> Deletions are marked with - . </span> </td> <td> <span> Additions are marked with +. </span> </td> </tr> <tr> <td> Line 4: </td> <td> Line 4: </td> </tr> <tr> <td> <span>-</span> [[Image(corbetts_glen-4.jpg, right,thumb,300)]] </td> <td> <span>+</span> <span>##</span>[[Image(corbetts_glen-4.jpg, right,thumb,300)]] </td> </tr> <tr> <td> Line 10: </td> <td> Line 10: </td> </tr> <tr> <td> <span>-</span> Entering the park for the first time is exciting, as you walk through a historic tunnel that was constructed by the New York Central Railroad in ["1882"]. The house in front of you (now a private residence) once belonged to Patrick Corbett, who farmed the Glen and charged church and civic groups a fee to picnic along Allen's Creek. Be sure to note the small set of railroad tracks surrounding the house. (I haven't ever seen a train, though) As you stroll the path along the Creek, glance to your left to search for the crater left when Parson's Powder Mill ["Explosions" exploded] in 1849. Being only 17.7 acres, it doesn't take much effort. If you are daring, hike up the cliff next to the creek for a great view. There is a new walkway going through the marsh area. We are lucky to have this park, since the scumbags at Linden Associates wanted to pave the area for industrial use. People of the area fought it and won.
