DancEncounters closed on January 1, 2017 after 20 years serving the greater Rochester area.

DancEncounters was a dance school. Classes include but are not limited to:

• Very friendly, non-threatening place to learn a great way to exercise and meet new people! Try going to a Monday night dance (only $8) with a 45 minute beginner lesson and then social dance. There are always people willing to teach the steps if you ask. Median age is probably around 40 but there is a huge range from high school/college age to septagenarians. No partner is necessary. I've been going for about 5 months now and am completely hooked!

• One of several local venues for West Coast Swing instruction and regular social dances, DancEncounters provides a safe place for beginners and those already growing in their WCS to have fun and dance socially. The local West Coast Swing community is growing with the younger crowd recently - as the first reviewer mentioned, the median age is older, but that number is slowly but surely coming down.

• DancEncounters is the premiere location in Rochester to dance Argentine Tango, offering 3 classes per week, a weekly milonga (social dance), and a monthly Gala Milonga which draws Tango dancers from all over western New York

2010-07-31 11:27:54   I can't believe how reasonable the prices the prices are! I checked out a lot of places and you wouldn't believe how expensive some of them are. I can actually afford to take classes at DancEncounters. And the people are really nice. —Marie
