The Williamson native was the gold medalist in the women's super G at the 1994 Olympics in Lillehammer, Norway, and won her last World Cup race a month later in Vail, Colorado.
She stunned the ski world by becoming a world champion at age 17 after learning to race at Brantling Ski Slopes, near Williamson.
She competed in three Olympics and was inducted into the U.S. National Ski Hall of Fame in 2004. She won six national championships.
