The EcoHouse is a sustainability-themed cooperative house off of Genesee Street. Established in 2003, it was originally run by the Minowin Environmental Coop.
The residents cook dinners regularly, and try to eat together as much as possible. The EcoHouse is a well-known organization in the University of Rochester community, hosting renowned pot-lucks and theme parties—including the internationally (by our friends studying abroad) known "Occupational Funk Party" on Halloween. They host neighborhood 19th Ward pot-lucks about once a month.
These are the people who are currently living at the Ecohouse. EcoHouse is currently looking for new members for the upcoming school semester. They welcome guests and encourage anyone interested to get in contact with them and come find out what they are about. Email [clehner@u.rochester.edu] to get in touch with the house, to visit or ask questions.
They are also involved with the Good Food Collective.
