Unfortunately, today I had one of those experiences which will make me never return. I often recommended this restaurant to friends and family. I took my parents and sister who were in from out of town there and was mortified at the horrible service and food we received. While their wait staff was wonderful, it was the owner and his wife who treated us very poorly. We never received all of our food , were given no apology or explanation, and the food we did receive was disgusting. I have always received great food at flour city diner, and was shocked at what I was served. But even more shocking was the attitude that the owner and his wife treated us with. Customer service goes along way and we did not receive any. I have never written a review on a restaurant before, but had to share my experience to save someone else's time and money. The ambience was very warm and friendly, the location had real charm and character and the food was always great. The new spot doesn’t do it for me. It comes across as cold and unwelcoming. The wait staff service station shares space with small tables that, if stuck eating there, makes you feel like you’re sitting in a hallway. The main dining area suffers from hard surfaces that cause every noise to be amplified. The result is everyone has to talk louder to be heard over the sound of clanking silverware, glasses and other conversations. Rochester has had far too many successful restaurants fail after a move to a new location; the previous restaurant that was in this space being a prime example. Since it completely lacks the charm and character of the old space, which was part of what drew me there regularly, I’m not so sure I’ll be back again soon.
