The Frank and Caroline Gannett Emergency Center, part of the University of Rochester Medical Center (abbreviated URMC), is the region's largest and most modern emergency facility. This 55,000-square-foot facility that handles more than 96,000 visits each year and has been designated by the New York State Department of Health as a Level One Regional Trauma Center, the only such trauma center in the Rochester area.
The newly located ED, which opened its doors in March of 2001, was designed to aid in the delivery of rapid care for adults and children. It includes:

The ED is conveniently located right next to the main entrance of Strong Memorial Hospital, assessable from Elmwood Ave. From the parking garage, take the red elevators to the ground floor. There is also a 39-slot parking lot in front of the entrance for use by:

RGRTA provides bus service to the traffic circle on the Crittenden Boulevard side of the lobby. Taxis and medical transport services also use this circle. Valet parking is available, for fee, on the Elmwood Ave side.

2009-02-06 17:08:28 I was sent to the ED about 3 years ago with a severe fever and was extremely well taken care of. I was highly impressed with the efficiency and level of care given not only to me but other people that night. —PeteB
