The fact is that the Rochester area is for the most part - flat. To find anything resembling real mountains takes a 2+ hour drive to either the Allegheny Mountains in the Southern Tier, the Adirondacks, or the Catskills. There is some modest elevation in the Bristol Hills around the Finger Lakes.

Hills

The best we do in the Rochester area are some "hills" that are maybe a couple hundred feed above the surrounding terrain:
