Volunteering, Employment |
Since 1962, Henrietta Volunteer Ambulance ("HVA") (aka Henrietta Ambulance) has proudly served the residents, workers, and commuters within the Town of Henrietta.
"Today, we remain a non-profit organization and are dispatched to medical emergencies by the Monroe County 911 Center. Calls are received over two-way radios and alpha-numeric pagers. Our medics are required to be at least a New York State Emergency Medical Technician; many are certified at the Intermediate, Critical Care, and even Paramedic levels.
HVA has a fleet of eight vehicles including five ambulances and three "fly cars" which respond to provide Advanced Life Support to neighboring towns. Our roster consists of 90 personnel including a mix of volunteers, part-time employees and 8 full-time employees. We receive approximately 5,200 annual calls for service each year.
We invite and encourage you to familiarize yourself with "HVA" and the services we provide to the community. You can contact us by telephone or mail, or you can stop by the base and speak with us.
Loan Closet
Residents of the Town of Henrietta may stop in to our base at 280 Calkins Road and sign-out item(s) from our Loan Closet. Items typically available include crutches, canes, walkers and wheelchairs. There is no fee for this service. Simply sign-out the item(s) and return them to us when you're done using them. We do NOT stock shower chairs or toilet seats.
Donations
Monetary donations can be made payable to "Henrietta Volunteer Ambulance" and mailed/dropped off at 280 Calkins Road, Rochester NY 14623. As a non-profit organization, your donation is tax deductible.
We also accept other gently used items for our Loan Closet including crutches, wheelchairs, canes and walkers. The value of these items is also tax deductible.
Blood Pressure Checks
As a courtesy, HVA offers free blood pressure checks at our main base between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m." 1
