|Jefferson Road is a major east-west commercial route through the towns of Henrietta and Pittsford|
|Runs west to southeast from the Genesee River at Ballantyne Bridge through Henrietta and Pittsford to the Monroe County line at Interstate 490 taking on various alternate names and route designations along the way.|
When many people speak of "Jefferson Road" proper, they are referring to the section that stretches from the Ballantyne Bridge over the Genesee River, near RIT, to Winton Road. Shoppers tend to think of the highly commercial and retail segment from Southtown Plaza at West Henrietta Road east to Frontier Commons near Interstate 390. This section has recently gotten an upgrade to look more like West Ridge Road, with medians, three travel lanes in each direction, double left-turning lanes, and bike lanes.
The Town of Pittsford is responsible for the name split between West Jefferson and East Jefferson on either side of Pittsford's Main Street.
New York State Route 252 runs from Route 33A in Chili to the Ballantyne Bridge under various names. It then carries the name Jefferson Road from its intersection with Scottsville Road, near RIT, until it becomes West Jefferson Road at Winton Road and then continues to South Main Street in Pittsford.
At South Main Street in Pittsford, Jefferson picks up the name East Jefferson Road and the NY Route 96 designation. As it enters Bushnell's Basin it also picks up the designation Pittsford Victor Road and turns south towards Eastview Mall. The Jefferson designation ends at the intersection of Route 96 and I-490 before leaving Monroe County.
