The Jewish Community Center (JCC) is nestled alongside the Barge Canal at Lock 33 near the border between Henrietta and Brighton. It was founded 1907 on Franklin Square. They built the Harro East Building in 1931 and remained there until moving to their current site in 1973. The JCC recently celebrated it's 100th anniversary in 2007.
It offers a number of services to the Jewish community as well as the rest of Rochester. It has been a pioneer in offering fitness services and currently has a full-sized pool (with adjacent kiddie pool), Fitness Center, indoor track, racquet ball courts (one of the first in the area), outdoor tennis courts, yoga and Pilates classes, and more. Seniors and those with special needs are always welcome. There are two kosher places for eating: the Coffee Shop at the JCC and Harvesteatery. WiFi is free.
The JCC also contains the Feinbloom Center for the Arts, which supports the Center Stage community theater in addition to numerous festivals highlighting Jewish films, books and culture.

2014-03-16 21:28:30 I went here this afternoon to see a play. This is the most impressive community center I've ever seen. They have more amenities than some city neighborhoods. —EileenF
