JoJo describes itself as an "American Bistro". The menu (really upscale) is heavy on grilled steaks and fresh seafood, along with a selection of pizzas cooked in their wood-fired oven.

Physically, JoJo's has an open layout, with a few booths and a lot of tables, a concrete floor, and exposed brick walls. The large bar has flat-screen televisions tuned to sports channels. The background music is generally older hits (e.g., the Jackson 5).

JoJo's is housed just north of Schoen Place in Pittsford, in a small strip plaza immediately before the railroad overpass. This plaza also houses the Pittsford Pub. The JoJo's space was once occuped by Ciao's, an Italian restaurant, which explains the presence of the wood-fired oven.

The website menu is not updated regularly, but some of the items still remain on the current menu.

On September 13, 2019, a second location opened in Webster village.

2009-03-25 11:40:57   I had a very unusual sunday night at jojo. I was there with my husband and another couple. It was not a busy night and the food took over a half an hour. The strange part was that the chef was sitting down at the table next to us. I had ordered the Sea Bass special. I am 7 months pregnant. My fish came out completely raw. Barely even seared. I'm not sure how someone who knows how to cook could send a piece of fish out like that. It then took an additional 15 minutes to re-cook my entree while everyone around me was eating their food. Meanwhile there is still a chef sitting at the table next to mine. The manager apologized and took care of my entree, she was very nice. But I'm concerned that just because it is a sunday that the chef didn't care. I know it probably is not the busiest night of the week, but it is no reason to become negligent. —MDelphinki

2009-03-26 15:49:50   You seem to have missed my point. Let me explain it for you. I had an appetizer, after the appetizer was cleared we then waited 30 minutes for our entrees. The irony I was pointing out was that in 30 minutes one would assume a piece of fish could be cooked. The wait probably wouldn't have concerned me as much had my piece of sea bass not been Completely RAW. But in their defense, I am a very hungry/hormonal pregnant woman! —MDelphinki

2009-04-04 11:11:02   I had the most embarrassing experience at jojo this week. I had a client in from New York. I though jojo would be the perfect hip place to take him and his wife. We sat down to dinner at a dirty table. My wife and my client's wife went to the ladies room only to return referring to it as a "disaster". We then proceeded to ask our waitress a few questions about some menu items that we were interested in. Every questions was proceeded by a 4-5 minute wait while she went to figure out what it was we were asking about. We did enjoy the food, but the experience soon went south again when my client's wife saw a cockroach on the wall... My attempt to wine and dine them did not go how I would have preferred. —P.Andrews

2009-09-25 14:57:47   Perhaps in need of a freshening up now. Feeling a little old and faded. I do notice JoJo, like Black and Blue, is very variable in quality. Be that quality of food or service. It really can be a lottery to eat there. Last week two bar staff arguing..... not what you want to see at a place like this. Their Pizza is always outstanding. Good wine selection but staff not too knowledgeable on portions. —sieats

2010-01-30 16:57:52   After a 2nd visit, I must say JoJo is not very high on my list. While our server was very prompt and knowledgeable , we found the food to be average at best and somewhat high priced. My wife and myself both opted for seafood entrees (Monkfish and Salmon). Mine came with a Chorizio Rissotto that was very good, but all the other food seemed to lack flavor and I was a little disappointed in the portion size. I may at sometime return to try one off the pizzas and the wine selection is pretty good. But with all of the other restaurants in the Monroe Ave. area, it would not be among my first choices. —almorinelli

2010-09-02 11:12:02   Jojo is normally one of my favorite places in the area but I was there last night and noticed some recent renovations to the restaurant and their menu. I miss their old staples like their mussels and fries (replaced by an asian-themed mussels dish but I really just wanted mussels in a good garlic broth!). Their fries also have been replaced by battered fries instead of the traditional hand-cut fries - not a good replacement! They tasted like they could come from any bag at the grocery store. I was really disappointed in the changes that have been made to the menu - go back to the staple dishes that drew in all your customers before! —goldengirl217

2010-10-26 15:56:58   i would have to disagree with the above comment. i understand the need for an establishment to keep their staples that their customers grew to love. but also, change is good and keeps things dynamic, especially in a restaurant setting. yes your customers may become accustomed to specific dishes and atmosphere, but also businesses need to stay in touch with the current times and change is inevitable. i had the mussels and fries last night and they were amazing. i had not previously had the old version that the comment above is mentioning. but i felt what i had received was quite amazing! every time i have always had dinner or a glass of wine at jojo i have always been warmed with a friendly staff and a bustling and busy atmosphere. i personally love the changes of the resaturant (in regards to the remodeling). i do not think change is always a bad thing. especially if it is change in a positive direction. —sarah.hilfiker

2010-11-02 11:42:45   Dined at JoJo last night. First time for us. Ordered our meal by 6:30pm, but the main course did not arrive until after 7:30! We ordered a regular pepperoni pizza and a burger, so it was nothing exotic. The food was average and a bit overpriced. However the wait time was unacceptable. If you aren't in a hurry, I can recommend JoJo, however we will not be rushing back soon. —suprax

2012-04-19 18:22:21   Went back tonight early... like 5PM. Honestly I forgot how much I enjoy the menu and the food here. First, the bartender made a Negroni perfectly, which you can't get in a lot of places. It was served in a Martini glass with an orange slice as it should be... nice touch. My wife had a spinach salad (very fresh and tender spinach), along with Brussels Sprouts which looked perfectly done, nicely browned and glistening with olive oil. My beef short ribs with polenta and a demi-glace didn't look all that large and I was fearful of too much sodium in the brown sauce. No need to fear. The meat was fall off the bone, the polenta beautifully done and sauce perfect. Just a pure delight to have such an enjoyable meal, and next time I will NOT wait so long to return. —wdrazek
