2008-07-20 18:39:22   In early 2006, I saw a Mark's advertisement in the free weekly announcing a *NEW* garbage plate calzone. I ripped the ad out of the paper, and went with a friend to the Mark's on E. Ridge Road in Irondequoit to investigate.

The manager looked at us like we were setting him up for a sketch on Candid Camera. He made a few phone calls, got the recipe (!) and told us we were the first people to order one.

It was actually okay - better than I expected. I suspect plain macaroni was used with mozzarella cheese, pieces of hamburger, and home fries. There was hot sauce inside, and a small side cup of the sauce was included for dunking.

They also offered a garbage plate pizza, which along with the calzone, is discontinued.

As for the pizza, I have to echo what others said. Mark's is the worst I've encountered in Rochester. Bland crust, cheese that turns a greasy orange when cool. I can only recommend this if you like to drown your pizza in Hidden Valley Ranch.

2008-07-21 10:01:01   I don't have a problem with the pizza from Mark's. It's not the best ever, but it hits the spot. However, it is VERY greasy and my stomach hates me for a little while after eating it. The garlic bread sticks that come in a small pizza box are a really yummy snack though. I would be happy ordering just those! —SaraChristine

2008-09-01 22:33:46   The pizza is usually good, but what makes Mark's my favorite are their Mild bbq wings. They are to DIE for! —carolturo

2008-09-05 16:25:09   The people at the Mark's in the plaza at Winton and Brighton Henrietta TL Road rock. Very fast, responsive and just great customer service. —BadFish

2008-10-30 21:28:54   Mark's sucks, the one on E. Ridge road is dirty and infested with rats. I know this because I was the assistant manager their, they should be closed down. —Gerri-Lynn

2008-10-31 18:31:50   ADMINISTRATIVE NOTE: It should be reported that through a friend who is another Mark's employee it was discovered that "Gerri-Lynn" was recently terminated and is now working for another pizza store. I would discount the comment as a grudge issue. —PeteB

2009-02-24 20:30:15   Does anybody know if all Marks locations got rid of the pizza ovens to use those assembly line pizza machines(don't know what they are called). I really liked Marks pizza until they started using these. Now the pizza tastes like garbage. —dale239

2009-03-07 17:10:12   We got hooked on Marks pizza when we were in the Albany area. When we moved here and had a location within a mile of our house, we were psyched. I'm not sure about the other comments folks have made... I haven't met anyone in real life that didn't like Mark's pizza. My wife always liked thick pizza, I always liked think pizza... Marks is the perfect balance, with a great tasting crust and sauce. —JeffB

2009-06-07 13:35:02   The mark's pizzeria on monroe avenue is a disgusting cesspool. They used to be good before they moved in next to the gas station but now it looks like a bunch of dirty homeless kids working in there. While waiting for 2 slices I saw one employee scratching something inside his shorts and not wash his hands afterwards before handling food. Needless to say I cancelled my order. Salvatore's is much better in my opinion, and at least it is clean in there. Just say NO to mark's on MONROE. Nothing bad to say about any other locations, just this one.

2009-06-08 19:00:41   We order from the Winton Place location in Henrietta and are always pleased. —PeteB

2009-10-30 00:43:54   Marks is hit or miss IMO. Sometimes the pizza is drool - worthy, cooked well and tasty. Less often it looks and tastes like something that came out of a WalMart toaster oven. I still find it worth the gamble, for now. —beetlebetty

2010-02-12 12:44:04   mark pizza sucks —bigal

2010-02-12 13:11:10   I'm thinking that the pizza from Mark's must vary by location (similar to Pontillo's) because I disagree with most of the commenters here. I LOVE Mark's pizza. They've got a great crust, good wings and calzones, and they've been around for 28 years, so they must be doing something right. —AlexanderGartley

2010-04-19 01:01:06   Terrible pizza. —ThadStevens

2010-07-21 19:17:35   I LOVE Mark's Pizzeria, I usually go to the Brighton/Henrietta location...their pizza is amazing (favorite is the Buff Chicken)...but most importantly they are nice there, you dont feel like your talking to a robot, or someone who just want to get off the phone - so on top of the great food and nice people, they have a customer for life with me!!! —Lissa

2010-12-27 02:12:07   I cannot figure out if I like this pizza or not. :/ Still eat it, though. Can't be a bad thing. —DE

2012-07-23 09:23:10   I order a calzone from the Chili location. It was smaller then I was hoping for but I like the taste of the crust. I would give it a grade of B. —bonnev659
