The Rochester area Visiting Nurses' Meals On Wheels (VN MOW) program was created in 1958 by the Visiting Nurse Service, the third oldest in the United States. In 2008 they had their 50th Anniversary. Since its inception the program has served 10 million+ meals throughout Monroe County.
In Monroe County and the eight-county Rochester region, VN MOW delivered 341,000 meals to 1,952 recipients with the assistance of 2,200 volunteers in 2006.1
