2008-01-18 16:03:22   The pizza is definitly different from place to place. I've always liked the Irondequoit Pontillo's, my parents have been ordering from there quite frequently ever since Ferarra's closed. If you like doughy pizza, you'll like this, and it's less greasy than Mark's. I enjoy the slices from Pontillo's at the Park Ave Fest, but I've never ordered a whole pizza from that location. —SaraChristine

2008-07-20 18:27:56   Always good for a quick, cheap, and tasty slice. Open late.

The Empire Boulevard location was our default pizza place, until we discovered Guida's Pizzeria. —ZachSmalt

2008-07-21 10:03:00   I think it's worth noting here that when ordering a pizza and ordering a slice, you're going to get almost two completely different types of pizza. Their slices are thin and have a nice crunch to the crust while their regular pizza is of the more doughy variety. Personally, I enjoy both. —SaraChristine

2008-08-14 21:44:06   The Webster Pontillos that is on Ridge Rd is the best yet. So glad there is one in Webster now and they use the original recipe too. It's not listed here for some reason but the number is 671-1070. —AlexPhil

2008-11-09 19:57:34   I just came from the Henrietta location and boy, do those employees act as though they hate their lives. I walked in to order a pizza, and one guy just grunts without looking up, "What do you want?" as if I have just come to add to his misery. I turned around and left without putting any order in, so I can't say anything about the quality of their pizza, but as for the service, I would have to say it has the worst around town. My preference for pizza would be either Brandani's or Pizza Hut (W Henrietta location). —JenFromDC

2008-11-11 09:41:47   Awful pizza, similar to Marks Pizza awfulness. But I think some Pontillos are better than others. Ive only tried North Greece and Webster, didnt care for either. —MrRochester

2009-03-08 00:12:19   I order from Pontillo's in Spencerport. They are the best pizza in Spencerport, but really, that's not saying all that much. I enjoy it though. —foxual

2009-03-09 12:31:50   I had dinner with my family (8 people) at the Pontillo's in Chili on Saturday, and we had a great time. There was plenty of seating, and the pizza and wings were really good. They sell 2-liter bottles of pop, but they didn't have any cups so we had to bring our own cups. Not a big deal. The employees were friendly, and I would return in a heartbeat. Recommended. —AlexanderGartley

2009-03-28 10:30:24   The pizza is definitely different from location to location as they are owned by different people who pay to use the name "Pontillo's". I had a friend who used to work there part time who clued me in to this. Pontillo's can be the best pizza or the worst pizza in the world depending on where you get it from. I've always liked the Ridge Road location and the one near the beach (I think it's Latta Road) the best. Park Ave is so-so. Heard that Pittsford and Bushnell's Basin are good as well, but haven't checked them out yet. I would definitely recommend if you want a good pizza, wait until you are in the neighborhood of one of the "recommended" Pontillo's and stop in to pick up a pie. You won't be disappointed. —dmarie

2009-03-31 14:32:59   A friend recently informed me that some of the employees at the Fairport location are working under the table for cash. I'm surprised they haven't been busted by the IRS yet. —xxdeliverance

2009-05-08 22:43:33   The Alexander street location is usually more miss than hit. I think they rely on their late hours and drunken crowd to get business rather than either quality of service or of the food. Just got a pizza from there tonight and the service was surly at best and the pizza completely inedible. I'd advise everyone to stear clear of this place. —LukeAnderson

2009-11-09 05:41:01   Inconsistent. I ordered the Buffalo Wing pizza from the Mt. Hope location one Sunday and it was terrific. Another week I ordered the same and it was awful... like they forgot the Buffalo sauce. I like a place where you know what to expect. —NickCassaro

2009-11-23 22:21:02   I whent into the pontillos on alexader street and I gotta say, the service was great. the girl in the front was a little rude tho but the pizza was great! when there monday morning for a business meeting and mould def. go back in!! 10/10 —maxpeterson

2009-12-21 19:22:30   As of tonight the web site seems to be broken. Many of the Store infomation links have default information, no prices are listing in the menu and the online ordering service is failing. —RowanHawkins

2010-01-01 22:23:38   First - the best Pontillo's is the Bushnell's Basin location.(period), end of story. —RonFazar

2010-01-01 22:24:25   If Pontillo's were as organized as Marks, they could dominate - but they're a loosely associated group of owners who don't capitalize on their opportunities. —RonFazar

2010-01-01 22:24:40   The website looks like it came out of 1996. There are three (as of recently) stores who offer Online ordering. Beware however - they use dashorder.com to run their online ordering. The prices one the website and in-store prices are different. There is NO POINT in using the online ordering - just call on the phone so you can get the lower prices. The store on Alexander St. near East Ave. promotes the online ordering with new yellow take-out menus which say in bold black font: ORDER On Line .. the prices on that take-out menu (a normal size piece of paper tri-folded) are the IN-STORE prices, NOT the Online prices. If you order online for delivery - you pay the higher on-line prices AND also a delivery charge. —RonFazar

2010-04-19 00:59:05   Please don't compare this place to NYC pizza. It's just as doughy and nasty as any Rochester pizza. To be honest, I'd put Pontillo's pizza about on par with the dining hall pizza at Nazareth College. It's edible but it's just not pizza. No char, no crust, poor quality ingredients. It's basically a very doughy, greasy piece of bread with bad cheese on it. Please try places like Arturo's, Totonno's, and Lombardi's before you even call this pizza. Napa Wood Fired Grill in Fairport is a good idea of what NYC pizza is like. It's just a whole different experience. —ThadStevens

2010-07-07 10:44:36   One thing to know about Pontillos is that the pizza quality varies greatly from store to store. For example, the old park ave location had some of the worst pizza ever... since it's moved to alexander st. it has gotten much better. For my money... the best pizza in the city is the Bushnell's basin location. See previous comments... I'm not alone in that opinion. —jonramz

2010-07-07 13:50:35   I agree, Bushnell's Basin is fantastic. The Webster location is very good as well. —cbcritic

2010-12-23 14:52:48   The Mt. Hope location is not a good one. It can take over two hours for them to deliver a pizza. (Thanks a lot, guys.) In-store service is shoddy, with plenty of attitude. The pizza is ok but not great. I wish I knew of a pizza place in Rochester that I could actually get excited about. Maybe I just need to go to a different Pontillo's? —GeorgeOliver

2010-12-27 02:14:12   Perinton location has fantastic pizza. Not a big fan of Bushnell's Basin version. —DE

2013-04-01 13:40:02   Disappointed in the customer service at the mt. Hope location. In home town from another state for the weekend and trying to get all the favorites in. Stopped to get a pontillos to take with us and the store would not accept the $2 off coupon from my phone. He said it had to be printed. Hope the pizza still taste better than this unfriendly employee. Would it have been that big of a deal to either take $2 off or maybe smile? —Tkr3

2014-12-16 21:34:53   Bushnell's Basin location is my absolute favorite. Consistently excellent lunch slices. —AndrewL

2015-03-05 17:59:54   Interesting that corporate won't even list their 315 Alexander Street location on the official website. Very interesting... What does that tell you? —sub619

2019-11-04 22:32:56   The only Pontillo's worth patronizing is located in Bushnell's Basin. —batguano
