Potholes begin to appear from January and only disappear the next January when the snow fills them in. In between the local, county, and state work to fill in potholes with harder stuff. If you want a pothole fixed you'll need to report it.
State Roads
Call 1-800-POTHOLE to report a pothole. To file a claim for damage from a pothole, go to dot.ny.gov, click "About NYSDOT," choose "Legal Affairs" from the listing of divisions and click "Small Claims."
Monroe County Roads
Calling 585 753 7700 or fill out the form at www.monroecounty.gov/dot-pothole.php.
To file a claim, visit www.monroecounty.gov/law-index.php, click "Litigation and Collections" on the menu on the left and follow the instructions for filing a notice of claim. Contact the county Law Department directly at (585) 753-1380.
City of Rochester
Call 311 or 585 428 5990 to report potholes or find out how to file a claim, or visit cityofrochester.gov, type "pothole" into the search box at the top of the homepage, choose the first result and fill out the online form.
