Premium Mortgage is a local mortgage company that started in 2000. They are a licensed mortgage banker with local processing and underwriting of home mortgages and mortgage refinancing.

Awarded the Rochester Top 100 designation six times, a three-time recipient of Buffalo’s Top Mortgage Originators, and won the 2012, 2013 & 2014 Rochester’s Choice Best Mortgage. A good portion of their business comes from past clients and referrals from many of New York’s top real estate agents. They are also among the largest US Veteran owned businesses in Monroe County.

They currently have approximately 80 employees and have opened offices across NYS and Vermont.

2012-11-01 10:19:46   I chose Premium Mortgage over Liberty Home Funding because Premium promised a more liberal "floatdown" policy (adjusting my rates downward if market rates fell during the application process). It turns out that they do not in fact have a more liberal floatdown policy. They eventually honored their commitment but only after telling me repeatedly that they wouldn't, and only (I am sure) because I made a habit of coming into the office unannounced, making myself comfortable, and making it clear I wasn't leaving till I got some satisfaction. Because I was there so often, I had ample opportunities to observe that the receptionist is pretty much always chattering away about hairstyles or TV shows with various people who hang out by her desk; this gives the whole operation an extremely unprofessional and sort of cheesy feel. While attempting to resolve the floatdown issue, I sent email to Mike Donoghue, the head of the organization; my email was ignored completely.

Overall, this was a frustrating and unsatisfactory experience. I often wished I'd chosen Liberty Home Funding instead, where I'd had a great initial meeting with Patrick. Even though I'd chosen Premium, Patrick stayed in touch throughout the process and gave me good advice about what to expect. This made me wish all the more that I'd chosen to work with him. —StevenLandsburg
