Richard Kennedy, MD is a Family Physician at Anthony L. Jordan Health Center.
He is Assistant Professor in the Family Medicine Department of the University of Rochester. His clinical time is devoted to Anthony L. Jordan Health Center. He co-directs the Community Health Improvement Clerkship (CHIC) for 4th year medical students, and precepts Family Medicine Residents at the Highland Family Medicine Center. He was one of the founding members of the Coalition to Prevent Lead Poisoning, which started in the Fall of 2000 shortly after it was discovered that 41% of the incoming students of School 17,the elementary school adjoining Orchard Street Community Health Center, came with a history of lead poisoning. He managed it's web page in the early years of the coalition http://www.LeadSafeby2010.org and co-chairs it's Screening and Professional Education Committee along with Ralph Spezio. His current favorite project is the Rochester Childen's Zone. This project was inspired by the Harlems Children's Zone http://www.hcz.org, who's founder Geoffrey Canada was a college mate of RCSD Superintendent Manny Rivera. Dr Rivera invited him to give a presentation at the School of the Art 1/25/05. The idea has caught on, Planning Kickoff event 6/24/06 was attended by almost 500 individuals. A 100 person Strategy Team was formed, 8 Work Teams with separate areas of focus were formed, meeting from August 2006 through February 2007 and developed multiyear objectives, and strategies to meet those objectives. He was one of the 38 RCZ members to visit the Harlem Children's Zone December 18, 2006. The RCZ released it's Community Plan early March 2007 with 40 multi-year objectives and 186 strategies to meet those objectives.
